Two years ago, a humor website called The Washington Fancy presented the headline “Obama Cancels July 4th Because of Budget Cuts.” The fake article in the middle of debt-ceiling battles insisted “President Obama sees the cancellation of the holiday as due punishment for Congress’s recent behavior.”
It continued: “Canceling the July 4th holiday will save states and cities billions of dollars in money that would have normally been spent on Chinese fireworks and large brass bands.”
It’s not funny anymore. Now, with what AP falsely calls the “congressionally mandated” sequester cuts, military bases have done just that. They have cancelled Fourth of July events.
How many defense insiders in Washington continue to proceed in comfort without limitation while the families of our fighting men and women at our military installations can’t have Fourth of July fireworks?
Don’t forget that The Washington Post recently reported that the Obamas’ trip to Africa in the week just before July 4 could cost what they called a “kingly sum,” anywhere from $60 million to $100 million.
“Military cargo planes will airlift in 56 support vehicles, including 14 limousines and three trucks loaded with sheets of bulletproof glass to cover the windows of the hotels where the first family will stay,” the Post reported. “Fighter jets will fly in shifts, giving 24-hour coverage over the president’s airspace, so they can intervene quickly if an errant plane gets too close.”
Those funds would have covered every federal Fourth of July event nationwide with plenty left over for a president’s vacation.
Details of 4th of July cuts:
Teenagers are more likely to remain sexually abstinent than they were 20 years ago, according to the latest statistics released by U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Using data obtained through the 2011 National Youth Risk Behavior Survey, CDC reported in July that 53% of high school students have not had sex, an increase of 15% since the early 1990s, according to the Heritage Foundation.
In June, another report, issued by the National Abstinence Education Association, revealed that a solid majority of teenagers are opposed to premarital sex at their age. (See chart at right.)
“Youth must receive the skills and reinforcement to continue their present trend away from early sexual initiation,” the NAEA report said. The group lobbies for an abstinence-only approach to sex education in the nation’s schools.
That approach was validated by a U.S. House subcommittee report. It revealed that abstinence education is a better approach to preventing teen pregnancy than comprehensive sex education, which relies heavily on the use of condoms by young people.
National Abstinence Education Association director Valerie Huber said the report from the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee reinforces the conclusion of a separate report her organization released a month earlier.
“This was not just written by a member of Congress, and it didn’t just emanate out of any committee,” she said. “The fact that this report came from the committee in the House where policy for sex education emanates is very, very important.”
Huber said the House report outlined the need “to encourage teens to wait [until marriage] to have sex and to reinforce the many good behaviors that so many teens are already exhibiting.”

A Lifeway Research report indicates that few churchgoers read their Bible every day. Out of 2,390 American Protestants attending church at least once a month, 18% never read the Bible outside church, 27% read it a few times a week, 14% once a week and 22% once a month. Nineteen percent of respondents said they read the Bible every day.
Zondervan, a major Christian book publisher, suggested that Americans fail to read the Bible because they have difficulty understanding it. According to a study cited by Zondervan, 83% of human understanding occurs visually. In response, Zondervan is now publishing a Bible edition that includes the full text of the New International Version, plus 360 full color graphics presenting key information to aid in comprehending the Bible.

A Sudanese Bible school resumed classes in October, after the school compound had been set on fire by Muslim extremists in April. The school administrators insist that Khartoum Bible School will remain in operation, despite intimidation from Muslims who have made attempts to seize the school property and broadcast anti-Christian messages from a mosque.
Similarly, Taman Yasmin Indonesia Christian Church, located in a country with a Muslim population of 86.1%, was closed by the government in 2010. The Indonesian Supreme Court upheld the church’s right to freedom of worship, but the mayor of Bogor City has refused to allow the church to reopen.
Gun Control vs. Crime Prevention (Including Political Crimes against society)
Sheriffs are urging people to get guns to protect themselves, because 911 response is too slow.
OH the blatant hypocrisy of the politicians and those in government in Washington. When they want you to be afraid of civilians with semi-automatic rifles they refer to them as “assault weapons,” but when they want to purchase similar weapons for their people, they refer to them as “personal defense weapons.” This is documented in the latest request for a General Service Administration (GSA) request for proposal (RFP) by the Department of Homeland Security on the Federal Business Opportunities website.
If you will notice, DHS is also soliciting for “commercial items” that use “5.56x45mm NATO ammunition.” Again, the hypocrisy is astounding. Aren’t we being told by people like Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) that these are “military style weapons,” not “commercial items”? Isn’t she the one proclaiming that these don’t need to be on our streets, but in the theater of war? Yet, it appears those in government want to take a “Do as I say, not as I do” approach to telling us what we can and cannot have when it pertains to the Second Amendment. They want them on the streets, in the airports, at the bus stop and on trains, as long as it’s in the hands of their hirelings.
Additionally, the solicitation refers to these “commercial items” as ““Personal Defense Weapon (PDW) – 5.56x45mm NATO, select-fire firearm suitable for personal defense use in close quarters and/or when maximum concealment is required.” In other words, these weapons can be set for single shot or multiple shots with one pull of the trigger. DHS is also requesting high capacity magazines that “have a capacity to hold thirty (30) 5.56x45mm NATO rounds.”
Following a major gun control law passed in New York City, New York State Senator Greg Ball (R) brought attention to the weapons request in a press release. Ball also pointed to the civilian version of these weapons and how they have been used as “personal defense weapons” when he said:

The truth is, increasing gun sales in America in recent years has led to lower crime rates.
The same is true all over the world.
Studies show countries with low rates of civilian firearms ownership are the most violent. Countries with high rates of civilian firearms ownership are the safest.
Just look to nearby Mexico if you want to see an example of the gun-grabbers’ idea of utopia. Effectively ruled by violent drug gangs in many areas, Mexico is a cesspool of rape, violence and murder.
President Obama’s Administration is announcing it will “push forward quickly” on gun control — and Vice President Joe Biden is promising it will be a “done deal” in a matter of weeks!
If passed, Feinstein’s Gun Ban would:
*** Ban the sale, transfer, importation, and manufacturing of 120 specifically named rifles, shotguns and handguns!
*** Ban the sale, transfer, importation and manufacturing of ALL firearms with a detachable magazine and at least one “military characteristic” — which could mean just about anything that makes a gun “look scary;”
*** Ban the sale, transfer, importation, and manufacturing of magazines holding more than 10 rounds;
*** Force owners of ALL “grandfathered” weapons to undergo an intrusive background check and fingerprinting — treating law-abiding citizens like criminals;
*** Force owners of ALL “grandfathered” weapons to federally register their guns after obtaining a permission slip from local law enforcement showing their guns are not in violation of state or local law.
That’s right. If you own a $10 magazine that’s more than 10 rounds, you’ll have to register it with the BATFE in their National Firearms Registry.
The ban on “transfers” means you and I can forget about ever handing down one of these guns to our kids and grandkids.
Worse, it could mean widows become instant felons if their husbands owned one of these banned magazines or firearms!
I can hardly even think about what a DISASTER for our country it would be should President Obama, Senator Feinstein and their anti-gun pals succeed in ramming this monstrosity down our throats.
If you and I want to keep the Second Amendment freedoms we’re so blessed to enjoy as American citizens, it’s absolutely CRITICAL you and I act IMMEDIATELY.

That’s why I’ve agreed to help the National Association for Gun Rights fight back to stop this Gun Ban and help lead the fight AGAINST the gun-grabbers.
They’re tough. They’re principled. And they know how to win.
They know the ONLY way you and I win this fight is if my colleagues here in Congress understand that voting for gun control will mean the END of their political careers . . .
And they’re busy mobilizing pro-gun Americans all over the country to make sure Congress gets that message loud and clear.
