Christian Story: Plan of Jesus is Liberty

Dinner Topics for Friday

The Cause of Our Redeemer

keyThe tyrants and antichrists of the world will not prevail against God’s plan. But liberty and our salvation are not maintained by default. The War in Heaven is the prototype for our sojourn on earth. The struggle is ongoing, and we must choose sides in the battle.   Will we choose the cause of our Redeemer, led by Jesus Christ— our Great Deliverer, the Giver of Liberty?

From the great war saga of ancient America, two prominent, opposing figures emerge. On the one hand is Amalickiah, who is described as “a man of cunning device. . . and. . .of many flattering words” who sought “to destroy the church of God, and to destroy the foundation of liberty which God had granted them.” Amalickiah typified consummate evil, proving the “great wickedness one very wicked man can cause.”(Alma 46:9,10)

Epic Hero defends Liberty and Family, by Winborg

“Now it came to pass that while Amalickiah had thus been obtaining power by fraud and deceit, Moroni, on the other hand, had been preparing the minds of the people to be faithful unto the Lord their God.”(Alma 48:7) Moroni told Pahoran, “Behold, I am Moroni, your chief captain. I seek not for power, but to pull it down. I seek not for honor of the world, but for the glory of my God, and the freedom and welfare of my country.”(Alma 60:36)

Amalickiah’s insatiable lust for power spawned a massive war machine, bearing down on the Nephites, seeking to crush the last breath of freedom.

But for Moroni, even a small “spark of freedom” was enough to dispel the darkness of tyranny. “Show unto me a true spirit of freedom,” he told Pahoran, “and I will come unto you.” (Alma 60:25,27)

Pahoran assured Moroni that indeed a spark of freedom remained, for the beleaguered freemen had not lost the Spirit of God, which is the spirit of freedom. (Alma 61:15)

Heartened by Moroni’s offer of help, Pahoran continued, “Therefore, my beloved brother, Moroni, let us resist evil, and whatsoever evil we cannot resist with our words, yea, such as rebellions and dissensions, let us resist them with our swords, that we may retain our freedom, that we may rejoice in the great privilege of our church, and in the cause of our Redeemer and our God.”(Alma 61:14)

“At this time, Moroni prayed that the cause of the Christians, and the freedom of the land might be favored.” (Alma 46:16) A “cause” is defined as “a principle or movement militantly, aggressively, or with combat; defended or supported.”[1]

war-in-heavenWhy did the cause of the peace-loving Christians have to be defended with combat? The king-men would not listen to words. They intended to impose their desires by force. Therefore the sword was the only thing they would understand.

So, what is our Redeemer’s cause?

When Satan sought to destroy the agency or free will of all mankind, Jesus gathered the souls of the righteous to defend freedom. Jesus set forth the glorious cause of freedom, and Michael was his commander in chief. This led to an all out war in heaven.

Temptation of Christ by Carl Bloch

Temptation of Christ by Carl Bloch

Just as Jesus and Satan clashed in heaven, so the forces of Amalickiah precipitated a great war for freedom in the choice land of promise.

Might the ancient historian have had Jesus and Michael in mind when he laboriously engraved this epic struggle for liberty?

Our Redeemer’s cause is liberty because the Spirit of God is also the spirit of freedom. (2 Cor. 3:17) If we miss the point of the war saga, we miss the very essence of God’s plan of salvation. Without liberty, the gospel could not flourish. Without the gospel of Jesus Christ, mankind would be doomed to spiritual bondage.

“Human liberty is the mainspring of human progress. The one great revolution in the world is the revolution for human liberty.   This was the paramount issue in the great council in heaven before this earth life. It has been the issue throughout the ages. It is the issue today. . . we also note the complacency of the people and their frequent willingness to give up their liberty for the promises of a would-be provider.”[2]

The tyrants and antichrists of the world will not prevail against God’s plan. But liberty and our salvation are not maintained by default. This message from history to us is that the War in Heaven is the prototype for our sojourn on earth. The struggle is ongoing, and we must choose sides in the battle.   Will we choose the cause of our Redeemer, led by Jesus Christ— our Great Deliverer, the Giver of Liberty?

If— like the stripling warriors and other epic heroes— we obey with exactness, endure valiantly in defending our Redeemer’s cause, and trust in God, He will deliver us.

Dinner Talk

  1. How can we apply Pahoran’s injunction to “resist evil” in our society today?
  2. See 2 Cor. 3:17. Why is the Spirit of God also the Spirit of freedom?
  3. Play Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy (Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Andre Previn, conductor) and envision the glorious victory of Michael the Archangel in the War in Heaven.

Moral Repair Plan: American Character, Law, Health News

1. Reagan’s Timeless ‘A Time for Choosing’ Speech Still Making an Impact

keyThe Time for Choosing speech was a critical moment in Reagan’s career that brought his name and message to a generation looking for answers. Though Goldwater would go on to lose in a landslide defeat, the power or Reagan’s message ignited a spark in Americans. His message would resonate after the failure of Lyndon Johnson’s “Great Society” and the malaise of Jimmy Carter’s administration in the 1970s. Fortunately, YAF is bringing Reagan’s message to a new generation, 50 years later.

Moral Repair Plan: The Reagan clip is the most positive here. It is becoming more and more difficult to find simply positive solutions. It is important to note that the way we can repair our country is to keep pushing back and restore good American character. Following clips show courageous people involved in the ongoing freedom fight, taking a stand for what is morally right.

Jarrett Stepman

Breitbart News

Ronald-Reagan-APThis October 27 marks the 50th anniversary of Ronald Reagan’s “A Time for Choosing” speech, which launched the “Great Communicator” on his incredible political career. This oration on behalf of conservative Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater’s presidential campaign in 1964, put Reagan on the political map and eventually launched him to the presidency.

In order to bring Reagan’s timeless speech to a new generation Young America’s Foundation (YAF) is launching A Time for Choosing: The Next Generation project. YAF will also be releasing a number of short videos this week, juxtaposing present day events with the timeless wisdom of conservatism, in Reagan’s own words. These videos include: national security, limited government, entitlement reform, the importance of the private sector, and self-determination.

YAF is commemorating the anniversary of what is sometimes simply called “The Speech,” with special initiatives reaching young people on college campuses, through conferences and seminars across the country, in the media, and through programs at the Reagan Ranch and Reagan Ranch Center.

Historian Craig Shirley wrote about how Reagan appealed to young voters in his book about the 1980 presidential election, Rendezvous With Destiny. Shirley wrote, “Reagan, the oldest candidate, knew what was on the minds of young Americans: they had been robbed of their future and didn’t like it one bit.” The newest generation, living with the burden of having less prosperity than their parents, needs to hear this message.

Reagan’s half-hour performance in front of a live audience drew from American history–speeches of Abraham Lincoln, John Winthrop, and Franklin Roosevelt in particular–and laid out the deep principles that would become the cornerstone of the conservative movement for the next half century. Channeling the American tradition and ideas stemming from the founding, Reagan proposed to set out a bold, new course for American governance that departed from the mantras of a calcified twentieth century progressivism.

By appealing to patriotism, the American dream, and simple, common-sense ideas Reagan helped lay the groundwork for a resurgent conservative movement. Reagan energized young people, many of whom would help put him in the White House.

Ultimately, Reagan proposed that Americans should have a clear cut choice when they went to the ballot box, one that he believed was clear. Reagan said, “You and I are told increasingly we have to choose between a left or right. Well I’d like to suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There’s only an up or down.”

According to Reagan every generation has an opportunity to make a choice; embrace freedom and individual liberty as passed down from the founders, or not. Reagan hit this theme again in his 1967 California gubernatorial inauguration speech. “Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction,” Reagan continued. “It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again.”

In giving voters a choice, Goldwater and Reagan departed from the “me-too conservatism” that defined the post-New Deal Republican Party. Reagan was asking Americans to do more than vote their interest or simply pick between two “personalities.” Using stirring rhetoric, sunny optimism, and deeply held belief in the American people—reminiscent of a Lincoln or Thomas Jefferson—Reagan inspired a new generation to fight for ideals that had made the nation truly great.

Stephen F. Hayward wrote in The Age of Reagan: The Fall of the Old Liberal Order:

…Reagan exuded a forward-looking optimism rooted in the latent greatness of America. This was not the non-ideological Chamber of Commerce kind of conservatism, the kind of conservatism that led Richard Nixon to say in the 1960 campaign, “It’s the millions of people that are buying new cars that have faith in America.” That kind of conservatism won’t stir anyone’s soul. For Reagan, faith in America transcended its material accomplishments.

The Time for Choosing speech was a critical moment in Reagan’s career that brought his name and message to a generation looking for answers.

2. Ted Cruz to Introduce Constitutional Amendment Defending Traditional Marriage

Tony Lee

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said Monday that he plans to introduce a constitutional amendment barring the federal government or the courts from overturning state marriage laws.

TedCruzCiting the Supreme Court’s “tragic and indefensible” refusal to take up same-sex marriage cases—essentially legalizing same-sex marriage in another 11 states—Cruz announced the proposal in a statement. He said he has already introduced legislation in the Senate to “protect the authority of state legislatures to define marriage,” because “marriage is a question for the states.”

“And that is why, when Congress returns to session, I will be introducing a constitutional amendment to prevent the federal government or the courts from attacking or striking down state marriage laws,” the potential 2016 GOP presidential contender announced.

Cruz also accused the Supreme Court of enabling “judicial activism at its worst” by letting rulings by lower court judges that “redefine marriage” stand. He said the “Supreme Court is abdicating its duty to uphold the Constitution” and declared that “the fact that the Supreme Court Justices, without providing any explanation whatsoever, have permitted lower courts to strike down so many state marriage laws is astonishing.”

Cruz said that the Constitution “entrusts state legislatures, elected by the People, to define marriage consistent with the values and mores of their citizens,” and “unelected judges should not be imposing their policy preferences to subvert the considered judgments of democratically elected legislatures.”

He also blasted the Supreme Court for twisting the original meaning of the 14th Amendment.

“The Court is making the preposterous assumption that the People of the United States somehow silently redefined marriage in 1868 when they ratified the 14th Amendment,” he continued. “Nothing in the text, logic, structure, or original understanding of the 14th Amendment or any other constitutional provision authorizes judges to redefine marriage for the nation. It is for the elected representatives of the People to make the laws of marriage, acting on the basis of their own constitutional authority, and protecting it, if necessary, from usurpation by the courts.”

judicialtyrannyCruz declared that because of the Supreme Court’s refusal to take up the gay marriage cases, 11 states–Virginia, Indiana, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Utah, North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia, Kansas, Colorado, and Wyoming–will likely legalize same-sex marriage. He said this action also “paves the way for laws prohibiting same-sex marriage to be overturned in any state.”

“Traditional marriage is an institution whose integrity and vitality are critical to the health of any society,” Cruz said. “We should remain faithful to our moral heritage and never hesitate to defend it.”

3. Health News: Private, For-Profit, Company Fighting Ebola Successfully

Mark Horne

Does it surprise me that Firestone Corporation earned this headline for their work fighting Ebola successfully in Liberia?

Yes and no.

I am surprised that the tire-making company is still in Liberia. I was there as a missionary-child and remember the fields of rubber trees that were harvested by the company. I assumed that they were driven out during the coup and then the ensuing years of chaos and bloodshed.

My assumption was wrong. Rubber was still needed by the world market and Firestone managed to stay in the country.

So, now that I know that… of course I am not surprised at all. To still be in Liberia requires amazing survival abilities. Naturally, these same abilities would be available to combat Ebola.

And that is exactly what is happening.

According to “How Firestone Shut Ebola Down.”

ebola-hose-down-apYou know all the gnashing of teeth about how terrible the global response to the Ebola outbreak has been? Maybe someone should check with Firestone. As NPR reports, the tiremaker runs a rubber plantation and basically the entire town of Harbel, outside Monrovia, Liberia. And when an employee’s wife turned up with the virus on March 30, Firestone Liberia’s managing director says they “went into crisis mode”: Upon discovering that there was nowhere to treat her, the company turned to the Internet for help in treating Ebola itself. Within a day, they had an Ebola ward. Within two, the woman was quarantined. They handed medical workers hazmat suits to prevent the virus’ spread.

“None of us had any Ebola experience,” says the director, but NPR notes that they did have what everywhere else in the region did not: The muscle and resources that a major corporation can harness. The woman died, but not one of Firestone’s roughly 8,500 employees and 71,500 family members contracted the virus. Months passed, and when the virus rampaged through the area in August, Firestone stepped up to the plate: It expanded the isolation ward, built an annex and quarantine centers, and sent out-of-work teachers (schools had been shut down) to go door-to-door and educate. Janitors were taught how to properly bury the dead, notes the Wall Street Journal.

There are some heroic people at Firestone, and there are heroic people working in “public health” for various governments. But if you want to know why Firestone has such success, you only need to think about the difference in motivation and culture. Firestone exists because they make a product that people want. They hire people who can be useful to that end and those people in turn know that their livelihood depends on productive labor.

That is simply not the culture that develops in a government bureaucracy.

So when it comes to dealing with a health crisis, the people of Firestone know they have to do their best to save lives and, in so doing, their livelihoods.

Private companies get things done. The best governments can do is try to imitate them.

4. Judge sides with student punished for criticizing lesbians

‘Controversy built right into the syllabus’

Bob Unruh

family3-silhouetteThe University of New Mexico and one of its professors will face trial on a charge of violating the constitutional rights of a student punished for expressing her opinions  about lesbianism in a class described by the instructor as having “controversy built right into the syllabus.”
“The court questions whether a university can have a legitimate pedagogical interest in inviting students to engage in ‘incendiary’ and provocative speech on a topic and then punishing a a student because he or she did just that. Simply because plaintiff expressed views about homosexuality that some people may deem offensive does not deprive her views of First Amendment protection. Plaintiff has made out a plausible case that Hinkley ostracized her because of Hinkley’s personal disagreement with plaintiff’s ideology, and not for legitimate pedogogical purpose.”

The judge concluded that “views opposing homosexuality are protected by the First Amendment and that the government is not free to interfere with speech for no better reason than promoting an approved message or discouraging a disfavored one.”

5. Crowd Walks Out On Obama

obamayearsPresident Barack Obama made a rare appearance on the campaign trail on Sunday with a rally to support the Democratic candidate for governor in Maryland, but early departures of crowd members while he spoke underscored his continuing unpopularity.

With approval levels hovering around record lows, Obama has spent most of his campaign-related efforts this year raising money for struggling Democrats, who risk losing control of the U.S. Senate in the Nov. 4 midterm election.

Most candidates from his party have been wary of appearing with him during their election races because of his sagging popularity.

Not so Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown of Maryland, who is running for governor, and Governor Pat Quinn of Illinois, who is running for re-election. Obama plans to appear at an event for Quinn later in the evening.

“You’ve got to vote,” Obama repeated over and over at a rally for Brown in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, near Washington.

Democrats have a history of not turning up to vote in midterm elections.

Moral Repair: Independent Schools, American Safety Plan

Dinner Topics for Thursday

1. Heritage: More States Are Rejecting Common Core

More and more states are becoming independent and withdrawing from participation in Common Core, the one-size-fits-all education scheme pushed by the federal government.

Widespread frustration with Common Core–parents, teachers, and students alike are pushing back–is leading more states to take back their education autonomy.

Heritage education expert Lindsey Burke explains that Ohio could be the latest state to buck the standards.

What do you think of this push back against Common Core?

2. School District Quits Michelle Obama Lunch Program

The state’s second largest school district has started the school year with a new look for its lunch menu, after opting out of the National School Lunch Program and forfeiting nearly $1 million in federal funding, to gain more freedom in the food it serves students.

In May, the board for Township High School District 214 voted to drop out of the federal program, after deciding its guidelines were too restrictive. For instance, kids would not have been able to buy hard-boiled eggs or certain types of yogurt. School officials also have noted new guidelines consider hummus to be too high in fat, and pretzels to be too high in salt; non-fat milk containers larger than 12 ounces could not be sold either.

I know it is slightly off topic but I have to wonder: is current nutritional science really this hateful and hurtful? Is it really impossible to eat good food that is healthy for you and that satisfies you? Reading about these guidelines gives one the impression they are designed to produce malnourished teens that are constantly distracted by hunger. (But what do I know? I drink my coffee with butter and coconut oil.)

In any case, the school district is “rebelling.” That is how I have described other schools doing the same thing, as have many other conservatives. But some of the details in this story make me realize it is not so much about them rebelling as that they are financially forced to opt out of the Federal program. While the story claims that the school district “forfeit[ed] nearly $1 million in federal funding to gain more freedom,” it later becomes clear that they did not forfeit anything. The program effectively ended the reimbursement program.

School-lunchesHere’s how it worked.

Schools that serve the lunches can get a certain amount reimbursed. But in order to get reimbursed, the students must actually purchase the food. But the students stopped buying the food. So rather than get money the school district was losing money. It was spending money to acquire and prepare food that no one would buy. So the school was stuck with food and no way to cover their costs.

3. Ted Cruz Introduces the Expatriate Terrorist Act

A plan for American Safety

Daniel Doherty | Sep 08, 2014

TedCruzIn an effort to prevent traitorous Americans from joining ISIS, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) introduced legislation on Monday that would revoke their U.S. citizenships if they do.

Speaking on the Senate floor this afternoon, he explained why such legislation is finally necessary.

“ISIS is a study in oppression and brutality that is conducting ethnic cleansing against religious minorities in the region, that is targeting and persecuting Christians, and that is attempting to subject the local population to the strictest forms of Sharia Law,” he said. “And ISIS has gruesomely murdered U.S. civilians and, indeed, journalists on the public stage.”

Washington lawmakers must therefore take two forms of action to protect Americans. First, he argued, securing all U.S. borders.

“It is beyond time for us to secure our borders,” he declared. “Representing the state of Texas, which has a border nearly 2,000 miles long, I know firsthand just how unsecure the border is right now.”

“This week of all weeks with the anniversary of the September 11th attacks upon us, we can have no illusions that terrorists won’t try to make good on their specific threats to attack America,” he continued. “And as long as our border isn’t secure, we’re making it far too easy for the terrorists to carry through on those promises.”

Secondly, he said, Washington lawmakers “should take commonsense steps to make fighting for or supporting ISIS a [citizenship-stripping offense].

“That is why I have today filed legislation which would amend the existing statute governing renunciation of United States citizenship,” he announced.

“[Defeating ISIS] requires clear, decisive, unified action,” he continued. “And it is my hope that all of us will come together supporting such action.”

4. God-Centered Comic Book

GodcomicWhen most people think about God, they picture a grumpy old man in the sky handing out impossible rules and smiting people. It’s not often that we have the opportunity to see God as the inventor of humor and a connoisseur of friendship. Knocking on Heaven’s Door explores the relationship between a little boy named Spencer and his best friend‐God. This collection of comic strips (with behind-the-scenes notes from writer/comedian Tommy Blaze and artist Nate Fakes), is equally whimsical and profound.

As author Tommy Blaze puts it,

If Knocking on Heaven’s Door is about anything, it’s about our relationship with God and the understanding that He wants to be included in our everyday lives, no matter how seemingly trivial or insipid…How could Spencer truly have a personal relationship with an omnipotent being so clearly superior to him? The answer is in the question. God can do anything He wants, which includes empathizing with a little kid and really getting down on his level.

Obama Plan: Muslim Force or American Liberty?

Mideast expert: Obama switched sides in war on terror

‘America has moved toward its Muslim enemies’

Does Obama’s Plan protect American Liberty?

Garth Kant

President Obama appears to bow to Saudi King Abdullah, on April 1, 2009, in London

WASHINGTON – It’s an explosive charge, one that puts the president’s motives into question.

A former CIA agent bluntly told WND, America has switched sides in the war on terror under President Obama.

Clare Lopez was willing to say what a few members of Congress have confided to WND in private, but declined to say on-the-record.

She said the global war on terror had been an effort to “stay free of Shariah,” or repressive Islamic law, until the Obama administration began siding with such jihadist groups as the Muslim Brotherhood and its affiliates.

Why the switch?

Lopez explained, when the so-called Arab Spring appeared in late 2010, “It was time to bring down the secular Muslim rulers who did not enforce Islamic law. And America helped.”

And why would Obama want to do that?

As she told WND earlier this month, Lopez believed the Muslim Brotherhood has thoroughly infiltrated the Obama administration and other branches of the federal government.
She also came to the conclusion Obama had essentially the same goals in the Mideast as the late Osama bin Laden: “to remove American power and influence, including military forces, from Islamic lands.”
Why would Obama order the killing of bin Laden?

Because the president “couldn’t delay any longer,” once the opportunity was presented, Lopez told WND.

There were “no more excuses” available to avoid it and he “thought it might look good,” she mused.

The former CIA operative’s perspective affects her prescription for what the U.S. should do about the terror army ISIS, as she called for caution and restraint.

While there has been a sudden chorus of politicians and military experts calling for the immediate elimination of the terrorist army after it beheaded American journalist James Foley last week, Lopez believes the U.S. should have an overall strategy in place before fully re-engaging in the Mideast militarily.

Any military action would be further complicated, she told WND, if it were not clear which side the U.S. is on, either in the short term or in the overall war on terror.

Lopez’s insights are backed by an impressive array of credentials.
She spent two decades in the field as a CIA operations officer; was an instructor for military intelligence and special forces students; has been a consultant, intelligence analyst and researcher within the defense sector; and has published two books on Iran. Lopez currently manages the counter-jihad and Shariah programs at the Center for Security Policy, run by Frank Gaffney, former assistant secretary of defense for international security policy during the Reagan administration.

EGYPT-POLITICS-UNRESTIn a previous interview with WND, Lopez described the stunning extent of infiltration of the administration and other branches of the federal government by the jihadist group the Muslim Brotherhood.

She said the infiltration began under former President Bill Clinton but really took hold under the Obama administration, which, she said, “includes various levels of understanding and misunderstanding of Islam and the Muslim Brotherhood.”

“Some in the administration genuinely appear to believe the Muslim Brotherhood can act as a foil or counterweight to al-Qaida, although with what’s going on in Syria, it’s hard to understand how they would still think that,” she observed.

Moral Plan that Works: Fence, Immigration Control, and Vote System Repair

Repair National Moral Damage with a Plan that Works

1. Immigration Control and Border Fence Work

Representative Steve Stockman, R-Texas

key“The president says the fence won’t work. I would challenge him to remove the fence from around the White House, if it doesn’t work. Fences work. It works in Israel. It would work here.”

illegal_alien_borderStockman said it would be much more humane to stop the flow than to allowit to continue, with so many left vulnerable to kidnapping, rape and murder during 30-day, thousand-mile-long trips.

“We need to return the families back home so we send a message, ‘You come up here, you’re going to be sent home quickly.’”

American History, 2005

The U.S. faced a similar crisis in 2005 when a large number of immigrants from Brazil started streaming into the country, but President George W. Bush solved the problem and deported them by using one of Obama’s favorite tools, the executive order.

2. American History: Immigration shutdown 35-40 years

old fashioned family dinnerRush Limbaugh

How many of you remember that we shut down immigration from 1924 or ’25 to 1965?  There was none.  Zip, zero, nada!  Every time I mention that, people are stunned.  They think immigration is something that happens all year, every year, throughout the year. From 1925 to 1960, 35 years we suspended legal immigration.  You know why?  So that the people who came here post-Civil War up to post-World War I could assimilate and become Americans.

They could learn our holidays, learn English, and become part of the American fabric and culture — which, by the way, they wanted to do.  That’s not even a component anymore.  Talk about assimilation and you get laughed out of the room.  “Who are we to make people want to live like us?”  Well, it’s our country!

3. Major nation has zero illegals coming in: Here’s how

Exclusive: Nick Adams explains that in 7 months, new leader ended aliens’ boat trips

Nick Adams

australiamapAustralia had a problem with illegal immigration.

It doesn’t anymore.

Compare this to the preceding four year period: Over 50,000 illegal immigrants arrived on Australian shores. More than 800 boats. Upwards of 1,000 people drowned at sea. A budget blowout of more than $10.3 billion.

Those that arrived were given welcome hampers, mobile phones, plasma TVs, housing, medical and other household items — all at a cost to the taxpayer.

And the overwhelming majority of those that came were not genuine refugees; many of them turned up in designer clothes and with mobile phones. They weren’t fleeing persecution; they just wanted a piece of Australia’s generous welfare state.

Frighteningly, some of them appeared to be Western haters, with one incident captured on video: One illegal immigrant, upset to have been intercepted by the Australian military, told the military to “”F–- Australia. … If later on you said why they do that to America on September 11, you should know the cause of it is your very deeds. Remember 9/11 for United States. All the world should know why.”

It was a mess.

It happened because a center-left government (the equivalent of the Democrats), elected in late 2007, decided to dismantle the existing tough and effective border security policy. They made the usual self-righteous left-wing claims that the existing policies were inhumane, immoral and sent the wrong message. While never brave enough to say it, their actions said it all: They believed in open borders.

And so they presided over more than 1,000 deaths at sea and were a boon to the evil people-smugglers all over Southeast Asia. Not only did their policy fail; it killed people.

The Australian people silently revolted.

australiaseaThey saw them, rightly, as “queue-jumpers” and believed it was unfair to genuine refugees (Australia already has a generous refugee intake) and those seeking to come the right way. They were devastated at the deaths of men, women and children on the high seas, who had been encouraged to take the perilous journey. And they were concerned about how much money this fiasco was costing. Not to mention the fact we didn’t know who these people were. Were they compatible with our way of life?

So, they threw out the government at the national election in September 2013. One of the incoming government’s core election promises was to “stop the boats.” Immediately, Prime Minister Tony Abbott got to work.

As he couldn’t stop the boats overnight, in those first few months, his government gave the illegal immigrants arriving to Australia two options: “You’ve arrived in Australia illegally. As a result, you will never get to stay here. You will never get to be an Australian. So, you have two options – we will take you to a processing center, and you will wait in detention for your asylum application to be processed. Or we will fly you home for free.”

In addition to this, the Abbott government got the Australian military to enforce its border protection, intercepting boats, turning them around, and even towing them back. And it applied pressure on Indonesia, by demanding it secure its own border.

Soon, the message got out, and the boats have stopped. It’s an ongoing issue that requires vigilance, but it has been achieved. Australia’s policy has been exceptionally effective in saving lives. It’s been done amid incessant howling from the left and the mainstream media.

The successful Australian model is one America must learn from. It shows what can happen when you develop a policy and adhere to it strictly, with no exceptions.

4. Repair the Vote System

Minority Vote Turnout Up After Election Integrity Measures Implemented

voter placing ballotWe’ve all heard the left’s (especially the Obama administration’s) tired “race-baiting” argument against voter integrity measures — ad nauseum. For example, if measures are put into place to require identification before casting a vote, the story goes, minority voters will be shut out of the voting process.

But what if I told you that the evidence shows the precise opposite result occurred in North Carolina – that the number of minority voters actually increased after election integrity measures were implemented in the state? Because that’s exactly what took place, as we pointed out in court earlier this month.

1.   4 Ways to End the Illegal Immigration Crisis

Ben Shapiro

A constant refrain from those who insist on comprehensive immigration reform – read: amnesty – rather than closing the border as a first step toward dealing with the immigration issue, is that the border cannot be closed.

That’s nonsense. The border can be closed, but both parties have a seeming interest in keeping it open. Democrats want the border open to usher in millions of people, most of them undereducated and likely to depend at least in part on government, who will presumably vote for bigger government once they are given citizenship. Republicans want the border open to provide cheap labor to big business. Nobody wants the border open to benefit the kind of immigrants that made this nation great: immigrants who want to work and don’t want an overbearing state alternatively cradling and crushing them.

illegal_alien_borderSo here’s how we can fix the border problem.

  1. Build a Wall.Approximately one-third of the US-Mexico border is fenced off. The rest is patrolled by hundreds of border patrol agents, most of whom are centralized in particular areas like Tucson and San Diego. Unsurprisingly, where border patrols are most common, illegal immigration is down most. But as of March 2013, just 15 Border Patrol pilots were assigned to the entire Rio Grande valley, according to The Daily Beast, as opposed to 80 stationed in Mexico. The supposed cost to build a fence that spans the entire border is estimated at some $22.4 billion. Which is not all that much money, considering that the federal government has blown some $154 billionon green energy boondoggles over the past 40 years. In 2008, the feds somehow came up with $20 billion to bail out Bank of America.

After the spate of terror attacks that rocked Israel in the early part of the 2000s, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon authorized the building of a security fence in Judea and Samaria. That roiled the international community, but it stopped terrorism almost cold. The Israeli security barrier, if applied to the length of the US border, would cost $6.4 billion – although that cost is low, given terrain differences. Israel’s fence is a combination of electric touch-fence, trenches, concrete walls.

A wall would not be sufficient, of course. The Israeli fence is also defended by Israeli military with orders to kill those who attempt to scale the wall. That order would not hold at the border.

  1. Call Out The National Guard.Which is why we should call out the National Guard. As Shmuel Rosner has written, “The fence is not the only thing keeping people from entering. The fence has just two objectives: slowing the intruders and making them visible to members of the border patrol. The rest of the work is done by human beings.”

This idea has been floated repeatedly and used before; in 2010, we deployed 1,200 National Guard soldiers to the border. Of course, in 2011, Obama scaled that back. Governor Rick Perry (R-TX) has been an advocate for this measure. According to some experts, a deployment of 15,000 National Guard troops would secure the border. And there are hundreds of thousands of National Guard troops available for such duty. Given shortages in manpower at both Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, activation of the National Guard is becoming an ever-more-popular option.

What would the National Guard do? It would arrest those who cross the border. Which leads us to the third measure.

  1. Deport Those Who Cross The Border Illegally. Our current legal system is completely inadequate in terms of achieving deportation. Thanks to Immigration and Customs Enforcement prosecutorial discretion, there are no hard-and-fast rules regarding how deportation is conducted. ICE officers often release illegal immigrants on the grounds that they are either non-flight risks or non-risks to the community. Obviously, that first grounds is often false, given the disappearance of large numbers of released illegal immigrants. Deportations are expensive and costly.

According to the Center for Immigration Studies, each immigration judge hears 1,243 proceedings each year, which means that the system prioritizes enforcement of the border only with regard to criminal illegal immigrants. Even for those who have nothing but sympathy for those attempting to cross the border illegally, the presumption of non-deportation means that many criminals will cross the border as well.

  1. Fight The Welfare State. An enforced border only becomes necessary in a free country for two reasons: first, safety; second, the possibility of an influx of people benefitting from public resources without contributing an equivalent amount to the tax coffers. Safety concerns will always require a secure border. But those who argue that illegal immigrants largely come to the United States to work are correct – except when they’re not.

iwelfarenotcareeropportunityWhen my great-grandparents came to the United States, they didn’t know English. They had no money. They integrated, learned the language, and became productive workers. That’s why immigrants make America great: because immigrants are self-selected members of the world community who want to be part of the American experiment in self-government, self-control, and self-determination. A welfare state not only undermines what America is and enervates those who are born here, it makes it impossible to distinguish immigrants who wish to be part of the American dream from those who wish to take advantage of the welfare state.

The greatest sacrifice America could make on behalf of illegal immigrants would be to do away with the welfare state so far as possible, thus making moot the question of why illegal immigrants would cross the border in violation of law. All immigrants would be a benefit rather than a potential cost. And those in America who don’t wish to build will leave. That is the immigrant America we used to be. And that’s who we can be again.

2. Training Children

“This is the best book on child-rearing
I have ever read.” – Joseph Farah

bookparentingtipsAfter raising his own six children and learning many things the hard way, author and pastor Reb Bradley wrote a practical guide to bringing up kids that uses biblical wisdom as its basis.

Entitled “Child Training Tips: What I Wish I Knew When My Children Were Young,” Bradley’s book presents common obstacles to successful parenting and solutions to help overcome them.

“It’s the most popular child-rearing book ever at WND,” says Joseph Farah, the website’s founder, editor and CEO.

Among the obstacles Bradley covers are: parental defensiveness, confusing raising children with training them, misunderstanding human depravity and trust in worldly “experts.”

“For basic parenting principles … we must look primarily to God’s Word. To look elsewhere guarantees trouble,” Bradley writes.

Every chapter of “Child Training Tips” includes a list of symptoms which helps to identify behavior problems, and expose trouble spots in parenting.

Answered are questions like:

How can a parent tell if they’ve given control of their home to their children?

How can a child be trained to obey quickly when spoken to calmly and only one time?

What’s gone wrong when chastisement doesn’t work?

How can appropriate punishments be determined?

What are the most subtle signs of rebellion?

How do parents accidentally train their children to disobey them?

What can be expected of children at what ages?

What exactly is “sass” and how can it be stopped?

And many, many more…
“Child Training Tips” doesn’t just cover child behavioral problems. Bradley also covers common ways parents behave that contribute to their failure in child training. The book ends with “25 Sure Ways to Exasperate Your Children.”

“Most parents are afraid of exasperating their children by being too firm,” writes Bradley, “but most children are exasperated by parents who are not firm consistently.”

“This is the best book on child-rearing I have ever read,” said Farah.

“Reb Bradley has given Christian parents a wealth of good, practical advice in ‘Child Training Tips.’ I recommend his book to all parents,” added Richard Fugate of the Foundation for Biblical Research.

Here’s another great book by Reb Bradley

“Born Liberal, Raised Right: How to Rescue America From Moral Decline … One Family At a Time”

bookbornliberalraisedrightAmerica has a problem … conservative parents are raising liberal kids! In this controversial book author Reb Bradley reveals that the cause of our nation’s moral decline has been caused not by failed education, poverty, or weak gun laws, but by inadequate parenting. He points out that any society that is out-of-control is comprised of citizens who lack self-control – the key ingredient of maturity.

In the last 50 years, as parents have softened their approach, children have failed to develop the self-restraint necessary to maintain a civilized society. As parents have mistaken indulgence for love, children have grown up self-absorbed and entitled. As moms and dads have paid for their children’s broken windows and parking tickets the children have grown up with the idea that they should not have to live with the consequences of their actions.

Hence, our nation is full of those who demand to be taken care of and those who feel compelled to rescue them. The more liberal in outlook we become the further our nation will fall.

“I’m Calling You to Officially Bow Out of Politics”

RushPanic2CALLER: I am calling you to officially bow out of politics. I am so sick of what is going on. This Cochran thing was the last straw. I can’t take it anymore. My country isn’t my country. Laws don’t mean anything. These people are downright evil; I don’t care if they’re Democrats or Republicans. There’s a handful of people that I still believe in. Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, maybe Rand Paul, although my very own senator is getting a little iffy on me. I don’t know what to do. I can’t vote for anybody. I don’t believe anybody. They all lie. I just don’t know where I am anymore.

CALLER: That’s exactly how I feel. That’s exactly how I feel. I mean, I have tears in my eyes. I don’t know which way to turn anymore. The people that are decent and honest — I mean, look at what they did to the poor governor of Wisconsin. I mean, it’s just now coming out today, I saw a little blurb on Fox News that the prosecutor actually came out and said, gee whiz, we didn’t mean to say that he had actually done anything wrong. We were just reporting to the public –

RUSH: They were forced here, and it was not by the Republican Party, by the way. They were forced by conservative media, these phony baloney Democrat prosecutors, into admitting there was never a case. They never had a case against Scott Walker. They tried to put forth — you’re exactly right. I know exactly how you feel. It’s a profoundly frustrating thing.

But the country’s worth saving, is the thing. It’s worth trying to save. Have to try.

1. Justina Free, Returns to Parents

Glenn Beck

Justina“Let’s start with another great story. It is the story of Justina Pelletier,” Glenn said. “She’s supposed to be returned to her home. Yesterday at about 3 o’clock I got an email from Mat Staver at Liberty Counsel, and he said she’s on her way home tomorrow morning – that’s today. So she is being released from the hospital, back to her parents.”

For those unfamiliar with the case, in February 2013 a then-15-year-old Justina was brought to Boston Children’s Hospital after suffering complications with the flu. Prior to this, the Connecticut teen had been diagnosed and treated by a physician at Tufts Medical Center for mitochondrial disease – a disease that affects the function of the cell’s mitochondria.

Once at Boston Children’s Hospital, however, doctors declared Justina had somatoform disorder, a psychiatric disorder, and stopped treating the mitochondrial disease. When the Pelletiers disagreed with the treatment plan set forth by these doctors and tried to discharge Justina to take her elsewhere, they were accused of medical child abuse and lost custody of their daughter to the Massachusetts DCF. Over the course of the past year, Justina’s condition had deteriorated rapidly.

After months of back and forth and dead ends, Judge Joseph Johnston finally ruled Justina’s parents – Lou and Linda Pelletier – will regain custody of their daughter.

“I find that the parties have shown by credible evidence that circumstances have changed since the adjudication on Dec. 20, 2013, that Justina is a child in need of care and protection pursuant to G.L. c. 199, 24-26,” Johnston wrote in the ruling, according to the Boston Globe. “Effective Wednesday, June 18, 2014, this care and protection petition is dismissed and custody of Justina is returned to her parents, Lou and Linda Pelletier.”

2. What to do when forced to perform ‘gay weddings’

preachingwordEventually, pastors in America will be ordered to preside over homosexual marriages – and they’ll have three choices: (1) surrender, disobey God’s law and obey man’s; (2) stand firm, disobey man’s law and obey God’s; or (3) use the opportunity to serve, speak truth in love and glorify Jesus. I like the third option.

Churches in Denmark are now compelled, by law, to host same-sex “weddings.”

America is next.

Tyranny’s appetite is insatiable. The secular-left’s hunger for power and control over its detractors can never be satisfied. To outwardly succumb and affirmatively capitulate to their pagan demands will never be enough.

Thought control is the goal.

As Mr. Phillips has indicated, he has no problem baking for homosexuals, but, as a Christian, he simply cannot and will not contribute his time and God-given gifts to bake a “wedding cake” that mocks and defiles God’s design for the immutable institution of legitimate marriage.

Nor would he bake for a white supremacist rally or any other similarly wicked event that likewise flouts biblical truth.

As a result, Phillips has said he will stop baking wedding cakes altogether.

3. Christian Parenting

MomsraisingSonstobeMenTo many, the role of motherhood is accompanied with a deep desire to “do what is right without being frightened by any fear.” (1 Peter 3:6) But, for a new mom – along with the great hopes that her son will grow to be a strong, wise, lover of God – raising boys can be filled with fears of inadequacy and uncertainty. Though she is a pastor’s wife, Rhonda Stoppe still embraces the critical role of a mother in raising sons.

In this book, she shares insights from her experience, other teachers and the Word of God about how to influence sons to become mature, God-honoring men. She sees motherhood as a mission, a calling from God, and knowing Him intimately as a must in becoming a godly mother. He is the resource for the understanding and wisdom required.

Moms Raising Sons to Be Men will challenge moms to draw close to God and commit themselves to fulfill their God-given calling. More information can be found at Harvest Publishers website.

Investment in Family Friendly Businesses

handshakeAmerican Family Association partnership offers investment integrity

Rob’s wife walked into their apartment and immediately knew something was wrong. The curtains were closed, the lights were out and Rob was on the couch with a blanket tucked around him.

“What’s wrong?” she asked.

“I think lunch made me sick,” he mumbled.

After checking his fever and giving him another blanket, Mary set out to make a light dinner that would make him feel better. She boiled noodles, cooked and cut up chicken and made Rob’s favorite chicken noodle soup. She made him a small bowl and placed it on a plate with crackers and a tall glass of iced water. She brought the meal on a tray to her ailing husband who took one whiff and jumped off the couch running in the direction of the bathroom. “I had chicken for lunch,” he screamed before slamming the door.

Even the best intentions can have undesirable results. That is true in small things like trying to cook chicken noodle soup for someone afraid of eating chicken, and in big decisions like investing for the future.

Because of this reality, several evangelical pastors – wanting to invest in mutual funds that did not support morally questionable businesses – approached Arthur Ally, a man well-known as a financial consultant and public accountant, to create America’s first pro-life/pro-family mutual fund.

Ally started small, with only a handful of investors in a limited partnership. He was inspired by his wife to name it the Timothy Plan. Ally initially focused on five major issues: abortion, pornography, alcohol, tobacco and casino gambling. Years later, he broadened his scope to screen for anti-family entertainment and alternative lifestyles.

Through the growth of the Timothy Plan and other connections, Ally became managing partner of a company that developed the eVALUEator, a tool to analyze any mutual fund’s moral integrity. It quickly became a necessary tool for investment brokers to see where thousands of businesses stood on moral and social issues. Brokers have found the tool invaluable in helping clients invest specifically in companies that share their beliefs, or at the very least, are not engaged in actions diametrically opposed to what they believe in.

Giving the investment away
It was this tool that led Steve Ensley, founder of Mobile Web Guard to set up a meeting with the Timothy Plan and AFA. Ensley saw an opportunity to take the tool brokers use every day and allow socially-minded consumers to benefit from its information. Through the newfound partnership, a slimmed-down version of eVALUEator was made available free to anyone with an Internet connection.

Ensley said, “We made this available for the guy who wants to build a house and needs lumber. He could buy it from just any company. But now he can buy it from a company he knows shares his beliefs and will use part of its profits promoting those beliefs.” That is the goal of eVALUEator and it does that well.

To see eVALUEator in action, visit Currently, users are limited to five search queries per 30-day cycle. Ensley said the partnership between AFA and Timothy Plan plans to increase that limit in the future. But the information gleaned from each search will be invaluable to the concerned consumer.

RushRevere91. Rush Limbaugh Children’s Author of the Year

Worthy Literature for Children—

RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, you are listening to your harmless, lovable, little fuzzball host, Rush Limbaugh, well-known radio raconteur bon vivant, and now children’s book Author of the Year.  The awards were handed out last night by the Children’s Book Council, and I want to take a moment here to thank everyone in the audience, particularly the young people who voted.  This is an award where the readers determine the winners.

Kathryn and I flew up after the program yesterday to New York for the awards banquet, the event.  This is the seventh annual.  It’s relatively new, and it’s combined with the children’s literacy project, and what a great evening.  It was a wonderful event, and I had, honestly, to make sure you understand, no expectation of winning this thing.  When they announced my name I was momentarily frozen.  We were sitting in the front row with a couple people from Simon & Schuster, the well known publishing house. Mitchell Ivers and Jean Anne Rose, they were there with us.  It was just a really, really nice event.

I have to tell you, there were so many immigrants that came up to me before the event started, when everybody was being seated and during the event, and they were telling me what coming to America meant to them. One of them was the photographer, one of the official photographers for the event.  There were a lot of people that were working the event that came up and wanted me to understand how much America had meant to them, and it was really great.

2. A note to “fiscal conservatives” from a social conservative

Why libertarianism can never work without morality and religion

By Dennis Prager

family5prayingdinnerOne frequently hears this political self-identification: “I’m socially liberal, but fiscally conservative.” Or, “If the Republicans weren’t conservative on so many social issues, I would vote Republican.” Or, “It’s too bad the Christian right dominates the Republican Party. I would vote for the Republicans on fiscal issues, but I can’t stand the religious right.”

The same sentiment holds among many inside the Republican Party. Most secular conservatives and the libertarian wing of the party agree: Let’s jettison all this social stuff—most prominently opposition to same-sex marriage and abortion, and this unnecessary commitment to religion—and just stand for small government and personal liberty.

The entire American experiment in smaller government—and even in secular government—was based on Americans individually being actively religious. The founders—unlike the European men of the Enlightenment then and the left today—understood that people are not basically good. That is a defining belief of Judaism and Christianity. Therefore the great majority of people need moral religion and belief in accountability to a morally judging God to be good. In other words, you will either have the big God or Judaism and Christianity or the big state of the left.

Social conservatives know that they need fiscal conservatives. They know that the bigger the state, the smaller the God. They know that proponents of the ever-larger state want their own gods—like Mother Earth—to replace the Bible’s God. Fiscal conservatives need to understand that they need social conservatives. They need them philosophically …and they need them politically. There will never be enough Americans who re fiscally but not socially conservative to win a national election. Sorry.

This issue is one of our top priorities, and ACT! for America has been aggressively working similar legislation in states all across the nation.

As a result of our efforts, Florida joins eight other states that have a law on the books restricting foreign laws in state courts. The others are:

Moral Repair Plan: High School Principal for Character, Moral Standard

Dinner Topics for Wednesday

keyThere is no greater calling than to teach young people. We will have failed if any one of you graduates this school and does not consider him or herself inordinately fortunate — to be alive and to be an American.

Moral Standards create Culture of Liberty

A Speech Every American High School Principal Should Give

By Dennis Prager

To the students and faculty of our high school:

I am your new principal, and honored to be so.
There is no greater calling than to teach young people.

I would like to apprise you of some important changes coming to our school. I am making these changes because I am convinced that most of the ideas that have dominated public education in America have worked against you, against your teachers and against our country.

flag1First , this school will no longer honor race or ethnicity.
I could not care less if your racial makeup is black, brown, red, yellow or white. I could not care less if your origins are African, Latin American, Asian or European, or if your ancestors arrived here on the Mayflower or on slave ships. The only identity I care about, the only one this school will recognize, is your individual identity — your character, your scholarship, your humanity. And the only national identity this school will care about is American.

This is an American public school, and American public schools were created to make better Americans. If you wish to affirm an ethnic, racial or religious identity through school, you will have to go elsewhere. We will end all ethnicity, race and non-American nationality-based celebrations. They undermine the motto of America , one of its three central values — e pluribus Unum, “from many, one.” And this school will be guided by America ‘s values. This includes all after-school clubs. I will not authorize clubs that divide students based on any identities. This includes race, language, religion, sexual orientation or whatever else may become in vogue in a society divided by political correctness.

narcissism2Your clubs will be based on interests and passions, not blood, ethnic, racial or other physically defined ties. Those clubs just cultivate narcissism — an unhealthy preoccupation with the self — while the purpose of education is to get you to think beyond yourself. So we will have clubs that transport you to the wonders and glories of art, music, astronomy, languages you do not already speak, carpentry and more. If the only extracurricular activities you can imagine being interested in are those based on ethnic, racial or sexual identity, that means that little outside of yourself really interests you.

Second , I am uninterested in whether English is your native language. My only interest in terms of language is that you leave this school speaking and writing English as fluently as possible. The English language has united America ‘s citizens for over 200 years, and it will unite us at this school. It is one of the indispensable reasons this country of immigrants has always come to be one country. And if you leave this school without excellent English language skills, I would be remiss in my duty to ensure that you will be prepared to successfully compete in the American job market. We will learn other languages here — it is deplorable that most Americans only speak English — but if you want classes taught in your native language rather than in English, this is not your school.

Third , because I regard learning as a sacred endeavor , everything in this school will reflect learning’s elevated status. This means, among other things, that you and your teachers will dress accordingly. Many people in our society dress more formally for Hollywood events than for church or school. These people have their priorities backward. Therefore, there will be a formal dress code at this school.

noFourth , no obscene language will be tolerated anywhere on this school’s property — whether in class, in the hallways or at athletic events. If you can’t speak without using the f -word, you can’t speak. By obscene language I mean the words banned by the Federal Communications Commission, plus epithets such as “Nigger,” even when used by one black student to address another black, or “bitch,” even when addressed by a girl to a girlfriend. It is my intent that by the time you leave this school, you will be among the few your age to instinctively distinguish between the elevated and the degraded, the holy and the obscene.

Fifth , we will end all self-esteem programs. In this school, self-esteem will be attained in only one way — the way people attained it until decided otherwise a generation ago — by earning it. One immediate consequence is that there will be one valedictorian, not eight.

Sixth , and last, I am reorienting the school toward academics and away from politics and propaganda. No more time will be devoted to scaring you about smoking and caffeine, or terrifying you about sexual harassment or global warming. No more semesters will be devoted to condom wearing and teaching you to regard sexual relations as only or primarily a health issue… There will be no more attempts to convince you that you are a victim because you are not white, or not male, or not heterosexual or not Christian.

We will have failed if any one of you graduates this school and does not consider him or herself inordinately fortunate — to be alive and to be an American.

pledgeofallegiancechildrenNow, please stand and join me in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of our country. As many of you do not know the words, your teachers will hand them out to you.

They actually want justice from the Attorney General …

Holderblackpastorsimpeach1. Black Pastors Want Holder Impeached; Uganda Targeted for Selective Outrage

RUSH LIMBAUGH: “A coalition of black pastors announced on Tuesday at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, that they are launching a campaign to gather one million signatures on a petition calling for the impeachment of Attorney General Eric Holder…”

Black preachers are going after the first African-American attorney general, Eric Holder.  You know why?  They claim on their petition for impeachment that he has been violating his oath of office by trying “to coerce states to fall in line with the same-sex ‘marriage’ agenda.  ‘President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder have turned their backs on the values the American people hold dear, values particularly cherished in the black community:

“Values like marriage, which should be strengthened and promoted, rather than weakened and undermined,” says a statement by the Coalition of African American Pastors that has been posted online with their impeachment petition.” That’s what they claim.  I think this is amazing.  Black pastors get this!  There’s not one Republican.  Maybe they get it. They don’t have the… the… the desire. Let’s just leave it at that. They don’t have the desire to go after Obama on his extra-constitutionality.

They don’t have the desire to go after Eric Holder on his behavior outside the Constitution.  In addition, there are 100 pastors here in Michigan.  These guys, these black pastors want to impeach Holder.  Here’s a pull quote: “I write today to urge you to take immediate action against the Attorney General of the United States for his lawless attempts to undermine states sovereign laws regarding marriage.

“Attorney General Holder should be impeached for abandoning his duty to uphold and defend the law and for pushing a radical agenda on the states in a manner out of keeping with the obligations of his office. I urge you to bring impeachment against Eric Holder for his reckless attempts to undermine our states’ constitutional marriage laws and the voices and values of millions of voters.” As a sideline related issue, are you aware of what’s going on in Uganda?

Uganda, of course, is a nation of black people in Africa.  “A Ugandan newspaper has published a list of what it called the country’s 200 top homosexuals, outing some who previously had not identified themselves as gay, a day after the president enacted a harsh anti-gay law. The US secretary of state, John Kerry, said the signing of the bill by President Yoweri Museveni on Monday marked ‘a tragic day for Uganda and for all who care about the cause of human rights’, and warned that Washington could cut aid.

“The Ugandan law — which came just over a month after Nigeria passed a similar measure against gays — has been condemned around the world, although it is widely popular among Ugandans.”

So, so the plot thickens here.  What’s Obama gonna do?  They’re gonna cut ‘em off.  No more aid to Uganda.  I mean, these guys might actually be wishing for the old days, with Idi Amin Dada.  Idi Amin was nothing compared to this.  But Uganda’s being singled out.  They’re a Christian nation, but Uganda’s not the only nation with laws like this.

It’s just the selective outrage.  Perfectly fine to be mad at the backwards, all of a sudden backwards, antiquated African-American nation of Uganda, but we’re gonna leave alone every Muslim nation which has the same, for all practical purposes, laws.

Who will plunge into the breach, risking all, to save those spiritual captives being led to death? It must be Christians. There is no one else. Christians have the message that saves.

But there will be backlash. There will be retaliation. Idols are entrenched, and the demons behind them do not yield without a fight.
This is why Paul in Romans 8:35-36 says we are like sheep being led to the slaughter. When Christians enter the darkness holding a lamp, they encounter tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril and sword.

Nevertheless, for centuries missionaries have shouldered their packs, left the warmth of kith and kin and marched off to continents that were spiritually pitch black, filled with people held hopeless in demonic chains and oppressed by innumerable idols and false religions.

Can we in America, with our churches well established, do anything less against the secular and pagan ideologies springing up in our land like poisonous mushrooms?

“The people who were sitting in darkness saw a great Light,” it says in Matthew 4:16.

We have the light of God. Let’s boldly shine it in the darkest corners of our culture.

3. Benefits of church fellowship come in the long term

From American Family Association Journal

family8workingNote: Members will continue to leave the church as long as they continue to look for “what’s in it for me.” The Millennial generation needs to learn that a disciple of Jesus Christ only grows in faith and character by sacrifice and service. It has been proven repeatedly that the “warm fuzzies” will result from service.

By Nicholas Dean, a senior at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. He worked as an AFA Journal intern last summer.

YouthGoodbyeIn a culture that encourages shallow encounters and fleeting romances, relationships too often do not reflect any modicum of commitment. But personal relationships are not the only relationships falling short. Church involvement and relationships with fellow believers often follow this same model of surface level encounters and short-term participation.

Warm fuzzies
In his book The Wisdom of Stability, author Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove shares a brief anecdote of Will, a young family man who had spent the past year at a new church. After having moved his family in search of a “church that takes community seriously,” Will was grateful for his year at the new church.

However, he still felt he wasn’t experiencing what he expected. As Wilson-Hartgrove put it, “Frankly, Will had hoped for more.”

Now, this young man might have had misgivings for a number of reasons, but one thing is certain: the warm fuzzy feelings had worn off.
And so it is with church going these days. Church involvement seems to be following the same model as modern dating and marriage conventions, which is to say self-serving. When the warm fuzzy feelings go, so too does the would-be faithful church member. And church is thus reduced to a revolving door.

4. Justice for Justina

About Justina Child Abuse Case

JustinaOver just the past 24 hours, the battle to free Justina Pelletier and return the 15-year-old Connecticut girl to her family has deteriorated. So much so that Grassfire is calling on ALL of our team members to pressure elected officials in both Connecticut and Massachusetts — urging them to intercede on behalf of the Pelletier family.

On Monday, a Massachusetts judge ruled that Justina be placed in court-ordered “foster care” at a non-medical facility where she will receive limited, if any, treatment for her mitochondrial disease — even though her condition continues to deteriorate! (Some reports indicate that Justina is being sent to an off-site psychiatric ward overseen by the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families).

Imagine the terror and confusion this precious teenager must feel every day that she’s away from the comfort of her home and unable to see her family, friends or even clergy!
Instead, as a ward of the state (a state in which she doesn’t reside), Justina has become a virtual guinea pig to doctors and state bureaucrats, who seem intent on destroying this child and her loving family.

5. Poverty Cure

Financial Survival …

New study series helps Christians view poverty through Biblical lens

By Teddy James
RethinkingPoverty_headerGive a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. There are many lessons found in that old adage. One of the most prominent is the difference between helping someone long-term and short-term. And that distinction is where Michael Matheson Miller begins his look at worldwide poverty in a six-part DVD study called Poverty Cure.

Hurting to helping
It is in our Christian nature to help those in need. And there are times when giving money and resources is absolutely necessary and appropriate. But there are also times when giving charity can hurt the very ones it is trying to help.

That is the concept discussed in part one, “Charity that Hurts.” Rev. Robert Sirico, president of the Acton Institute, the organization that produced Poverty Cure, said, “We need to [take the emotional, moral] impulse to do something good and mature it.”

And that is the heart of the DVD study. Miller, the host of Poverty Cure, takes an honest look at the global problem of poverty, asking entrepreneurs, politicians, religious leaders and others how charity has affected local and national economies and what is being done successfully to draw the most people out of poverty.

Helping to investing
Poverty Cure focuses on the idea that people are image bearers of God and thus, are creative and innovative. Every person Miller speaks to says essentially the same thing, “Invest in us, invest in our enterprise, don’t just give us aid.”

One businessman said, “I’ve never heard about a country that developed on aid. I have heard of a country developing on innovation.”
Through the course of the study, Miller spotlights several ministries and organizations that specialize in micro financing, a way of giving small loans to small to medium enterprises. The reason is simple – in developed countries, around 65% of the work force is employed by small to medium enterprises. In poor countries, that number is often below 10%. But building wealth is not the end goal of Poverty Cure.

Investing to reaching
Peter Greer, president of HOPE International, a Christian organization specializing in micro financing and spreading the gospel, tells the story of helping a man get a job and escape poverty. When Greer visited him a year later, his home had not changed and his children were still not in school. Greer learned that he was taking his money and spending it on alcohol and women other than his wife.

He said, “I remember recognizing at that moment there’s got to be more than just a change in a wallet for significant change to happen. I think that is where the church and faith community has something materially different to offer than just another loan, just another job. When you have the opportunity to touch hearts, to touch meaning, to touch identity, while helping an individual get out of physical poverty, that’s where you see incredible transformation.”
