Distrust of Power Not Necessarily Disrespect For Leaders

The Founders had more confidence in the people than they did in the leaders of the people, especially trusted leaders, even themselves. They felt the greatest danger arises when a leader is so completely trusted that the people feel no anxiety to watch him.

alexanderhamiltonAlexander Hamilton:

For it is a truth, which the experience of all ages has attested, that the people are commonly most in danger when the means of injuring their rights are in the possession of those [toward] whom they entertain the least suspicion. (Federalist Papers, No. 25, p.164)

Every unconstitutional action has usually been justified because it was for a “good cause.” Every illegal transfer of power from one department to another has been excused as “necessary.”

jeffersontyrannygovThomas Jefferson

In questions of power, then, let no more be said of confidence in man, BUT BIND HIM DOWN FROM MISCHIEF BY THE CHAINS OF THE CONSTITUTION. (emphasis added) Skousen, 164

George Washington

George WashingtonGovernment is not reason, it is not eloquence—it is force! Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.

Leaders Are Not Angels, But Fragile Human Beings

James Madison saw the problem of placing power in the hands of fallible human beins who, by nature, contain a complexity of elements reflecting both good and evil. the purpose of a constitution is to define the area in which a public official can serve to his utmost ability, but at the same time provide strict limitations to chain him down from mischief. In every human being there is a natural tendency to practice Parkinson’s law of perpetual expansion and to exercise personal proclivities toward ego-mania and self-aggrandizement. (Skousen, 165)

madisontyrannydefineJames Madison

It may be a reflection on human nature that such devices [as Constitutional chains] should be necessary to control the abuses of government. But what is government itself but the greatest of all reflections on human nature? … If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary.

I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power, than by violent and sudden usurpations …This danger ought to be wisely guarded against.

Why the Original Constitution Will Never Be Obsolete

constitution2And that is what the Constitution is all about—providing freedom from abuse by those in authority. Anyone who says the American Constitution is obsolete just because social and economic conditions have changed does not understand the real genius of the Constitution. It was designed to control something which HAS NOT CHANGED AND WILL NOT CHANGE—NAMELY, HUMAN NATURE. (Skousen, 166)

Trump touts compassionate but safe solution for refugee crisis

Learn the Lesson of the Snake

Phyllis Schlafly

rattlesnakeRecently in Erie, Pennsylvania, Donald Trump entertained his vast crowd of supporters by reciting the lyrics to a song called “The Snake.” The song was written about 50 years ago, but it tells a timeless truth derived from Aesop’s Fables, which are more than 2,500 years old.

The song tells the story of a “tender-hearted woman” who rescues a “poor, half-frozen snake” from near death in the winter cold. “Take me in, oh tender woman, ” the snake cries out. “Take me in, for heaven’s sake.”

So the tender-hearted woman takes the snake into her own home, warms it by the fire and feeds it milk and honey: “if I hadn’t brought you in, b now you might have died.” But instead of saying thanks, the snake gave her a vicious bite.

“I saved you,” cried the woman. “And you’ve bitten me, but why? You know your bite is poisonous, and now I’m going to die.”

“Oh shut up, silly woman,” said the reptile with a grin. “You knew very well I was a snake before you took me in.”

The moral of the song was clear to many in the crowd, but Donald Trump made sure that everyone got the message. “This is what is going on in our country, with our border,” he told the 9,000 people who filled the Erie Insurance Arena.

cartoon-obama-hillary-radical-islam-seeds

When you’re listening to this, think of our border. Think of the people we are letting in by the thousands. And Hillary Clinton wants to allow 550 percent more coming in to our country. How stupid are we?!”

That’s right: Hillary wants to bring in 65,000 Syrian refugees, which is indeed a 550 percent increase over the 10,000 who entered this year, which in turn is a 500 percent increase over last year’s intake of about 1,600. Obama is now rushing to complete his pledge to bring in 10,000 Syrian refugees by Sept 30, despite FBI Director James Comey’s testimony last October that those people can’t be vetted because there are no reliable records on them.

As Trump said at the rally in Erie, “We want to help people, but we can’t take a chance. We know bad things are going to happen. We know, as we allow more and more people to come in from terror areas, bad things are going to happen.”

To illustrate the “bad things” that are bound to happen when “we allow more and more people to come in from terror areas,” Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., last month released the names of 20 people convicted of terrorism in the last three years after being admitted to our country as refugees from such countries as Iraq, Somalia, Uzbekistan and Bosnia. One of the 20 had received a special visa for Iraqi translators and subsequently became a U.S. citizen, yet he pledged an oath to the leader of ISIS.

Safe, Compassionate Solution

trump-illegal-immigration-crime-validated1              Trump’s compassionate solution for the refugee crisis is to “Build a beautiful safe zone in Syria” and get the so-called Gulf States to pay for it. The Gulf States are the oil-rich kingdoms of the Persian Gulf whose existence is protected by the U.S. Navy, but have contributed nothing for the welfare of their fellow Arab Muslims in need.

The story of ‘The Snake’ is what’s happening to our country

“The story of ‘The Snake’ is what’s happening to our country,” Trump continued. “We’re letting people in. many of these people hate us. Many of these people don’t have good thoughts. And you see what one sick wacko can do in Orlando. And then you see his father sitting behind Hillary cClinton with a big smile on his face.”

That’s right, the father of Omar Mateen, who murdered 49 people at the Pulse nightclub on June 12, was allowed to sit directly behind Hillary where he was visible on camera during her entire 25-minute speech. Seddique Mateen, who apparently came to the United States as a refugee in the 1980s, told reporters that Hillary Clinton “would be good for the United States, versus Donald Trump.”

Aiding and Abetting Terrorism

treasonaidabetenemy               Before we allow any more refugees from Syria, let’s take a closer look at what happened to a previous wave of refugees brought here from the East African failed state of Somalia. Starting in the 1990s, an estimated 100,000Muslims from Somalia have been resettled in Minnesota and Maine at U.S. taxpayers’ expense.

Instead of expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to live in a peaceful, prosperous nation, many Somalis have been trained by leftist community organizers to adopt an entitlement mentality, quick to complain about alleged discrimination.

If that’s not bad enough, a disproportionate number of their young men have supported terrorism or have even traveled overseas to join ISIS.

Blessed and Happy Are Those Who Keep the Commandments of God

Von G. Keetch

keyThe barriers established by the Lord create for us a safe harbor from evil and destructive influences.

Some time ago while visiting Australia, I traveled to a beautiful horseshoe bay renowned for its surfing. As I walked along the beach, I was enthralled by the magnificence of the large crashing waves breaking just outside the bay and the smaller waves rolling in closer to shore.

group-on-beachshark-barrier-australiaAs I continued my stroll, I encountered a group of American surfers. They were obviously upset about something, talking loudly and gesturing toward the sea. When I asked them what was wrong, they pointed to just outside the bay where the big waves were breaking.

“Look out there,” one of them angrily told me. “Can you see the barrier?” Looking more closely now, I could indeed see a barrier stretching across the entire mouth of the bay, right where the large, enticing waves were breaking. The barrier appeared to be made of a heavy mesh and was supported by floats on top of the water. According to the surfers, it dropped all the way down to the ocean floor.

The American surfer continued, “We are here on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to surf these big waves. We can surf the smaller ones breaking within the bay itself, but the barrier makes it impossible for us to surf the big ones. We have no idea why the barrier is there. All we know is that it has totally spoiled our trip.”

binocularsAs the American surfers became more animated, my attention was drawn to another nearby surfer—an older man and obviously a local. He seemed to be growing impatient as he listened to the ever-increasing complaints about the barrier.

shark-fins-australiaFinally he rose and walked over to the group. Without saying anything, he pulled a pair of binoculars from his backpack and handed them to one of the surfers, pointing out toward the barrier. Each of the surfers looked through the binoculars. When my turn came, with the help of magnification, I could see something that I had not been able to see before: dorsal fins—large sharks feeding near the reef on the other side of the barrier.

The group quickly became subdued. The old surfer retrieved his binoculars and turned to walk away. As he did, he said words I will never forget:

“Don’t be too critical of the barrier,” he said. “It’s the only thing that’s keeping you from being devoured.”

As we stood on that beautiful beach, our perspective had suddenly changed. A barrier that had seemed rigid and restrictive—that seemed to curtail the fun and excitement of riding the really big waves—had become something very different. With our new understanding of the danger that lurked just below the surface, the barrier now offered protection, safety, and peace.

Sailor w-Jesus by Warner SallmanAs you and I walk the paths of life and pursue our dreams, God’s commands and standards—like the barrier—can sometimes be difficult to understand. They may appear rigid and unyielding, blocking a path that looks fun and exciting and that is being followed by so many others.

As the Apostle Paul described, “We see through a glass, darkly,”1 with such a limited perspective that we often cannot comprehend the great dangers hidden just below the surface.

But He who “comprehend[s] all things”2 knows exactly where those dangers lie. He gives us divine direction, through His commands and loving guidance, so that we may avoid the dangers—so that we may set a course in our lives that is protected from spiritual predators and the gaping jaws of sin.3

We show our love for God—and our faith in Him—by doing our very best every day to follow the course that He has laid out for us and by keeping the commandments that He has given to us. We especially manifest that faith and love in situations where we don’t fully understand the reason for God’s commands or the particular path He is telling us to take. It is relatively easy to follow a course inside the barrier once we know there are sharp-toothed predators swarming just outside of it.

quote-keetch-loveIt is more difficult to keep our course within the barrier when all we can see are thrilling and tantalizing waves on the other side. And yet it is in those times—times when we choose to exercise our faith, put our trust in God, and show our love to Him—that we grow and gain the most.

In the New Testament, Ananias could not comprehend the Lord’s command to seek out and bless Saul—a man who literally had a license to imprison the believers of Christ. Yet because he obeyed God’s command, Ananias was instrumental in the spiritual birth of the Apostle Paul.4

As we trust in the Lord, exercise our faith, obey His commandments, and follow the course He has charted for us, we become more the person the Lord wants us to become. It is this “becoming”—this conversion of the heart—that is all-important. As Elder Dallin H. Oaks has taught us: “It is not enough for anyone just to go through the motions. The commandments, ordinances, and covenants of the gospel are not a list of deposits required to be made in some heavenly account. The gospel of Jesus Christ is a plan that shows us how to become what our Heavenly Father desires us to become.”5

True obedience, therefore, is giving ourselves entirely to Him and allowing Him to chart our course both in calm waters and in troubled ones, understanding that He can make more of us than we could ever make of ourselves.

As we submit ourselves to His will, we increase in peace and happiness. King Benjamin taught that those who keep the commands of God are “blessed and happy … in all things, both temporal and spiritual.”6

God wants us to have joy.

quote-monson-commandmentsHe wants us to have peace. He wants us to succeed. He wants us to be safe and to be protected from the worldly influences all around us.

Put another way, the Lord’s commands do not constitute some grueling underwater maze of barriers that we must learn to grudgingly endure in this life so that we might be exalted in the next. Rather, the barriers established by the Lord create for us a safe harbor from the evil and destructive influences that would otherwise drag us down to the depths of despair.

The Lord’s commandments are given out of love and caring; they are intended for our joy in this life7 just as much as they are intended for our joy and exaltation in the next. They mark the way that we should act—and more importantly, they illuminate who we should become.

Resurrected-Christ-Wilson-Ong-212048It was a path that led through Gethsemane and Golgotha, where He endured unimaginable agony and suffering and where He was totally forsaken as His Father’s Spirit withdrew. But that same path culminated in an empty tomb on the third day, with cries of “He is risen!”8 ringing in the ears and hearts of those who loved Him. It included unimaginable joy and comfort centered in His Atonement for all of God’s children throughout eternity. By allowing His will to be swallowed up by the Father’s, Christ gave us the prospect of eternal peace, eternal joy, and eternal life.

I testify that we are children of a loving God. I witness that He wants us to be happy and safe and blessed. To that end, He has charted for us a course leading back to Him, and He has established barriers that will protect us along the way. As we do our best to follow that course, we find true safety, happiness, and peace. And as we submit to His will, we become what He wants us to become.

compass liahonaWe look heavenward for that unfailing sense of direction, that we might chart and follow a wise and proper course.

A Ship without a Rudder

bismarckSeventy-five years ago, on February 14, 1939, in Hamburg, Germany, a public holiday was celebrated. Amid fervent speeches, cheering throngs, and the playing of patriotic anthems, the new battleship Bismarck was put to sea via the River Elbe. This, the most powerful vessel afloat, was a breathtaking spectacle of armor and machinery. Construction required more than 57,000 blueprints for the 380-millimeter, radar-controlled, double-gun turrets. The vessel featured 28,000 miles (45,000 km) of electrical circuits. It weighed over 35,000 tons, and armor plate provided maximum safety. Majestic in appearance, gigantic in size, awesome in firepower, the mighty colossus was considered unsinkable.

The Bismarck’s appointment with destiny came more than two years later, when on May 24, 1941, the two most powerful warships in the British Navy, the Prince of Wales and the Hood, engaged in battle the Bismarck and the German cruiser Prinz Eugen. Within five minutes the Bismarck had sent to the depths of the Atlantic the Hood and all but three men of a crew of over 1,400. The other British battleship, the Prince of Wales, had suffered heavy damage and turned away.

Over the next three days the Bismarck was engaged again and again by British warships and aircraft. In all, the British concentrated the strength of five battleships, two aircraft carriers, 11 cruisers, and 21 destroyers in an effort to find and to sink the mighty Bismarck.

bismarckrudderDuring these battles, shell after shell inflicted only superficial damage on the Bismarck. Was it unsinkable after all? Then a torpedo scored a lucky hit, which jammed the Bismarck’s rudder. Repair efforts proved fruitless. With guns primed and the crews at ready, the Bismarck could only steer a slow circle. Just beyond reach was the powerful German air force. The Bismarck could not reach the safety of home port. Neither could provide the needed haven, for the Bismarck had lost the ability to steer a charted course. No rudder, no help, no port. The end drew near. British guns blazed as the German crew scuttled and sank the once seemingly indestructible vessel. The hungry waves of the Atlantic first lapped at the sides and then swallowed the pride of the German navy. The Bismarck was no more.1

Light from God shows us the Way to Safety

Like the Bismarck, each of us is a miracle of engineering. Our creation, however, was not limited by human genius. Man can devise the most complex machines but cannot give them life or bestow upon them the powers of reason and judgment. These are divine gifts, bestowed only by God.

lighthouseLike the vital rudder of a ship,  we have been provided a way to determine the direction we travel. The lighthouse of the Lord beckons to all as we sail the seas of life. Our purpose is to steer an undeviating course toward our desired goal—even the celestial kingdom of God. A man without a purpose is like a ship without a rudder, never likely to reach home port. To us comes the signal: chart your course, set your sail, position your rudder, and proceed.

As with the mighty Bismarck, so it is with man. The thrust of the turbines and the power of the propellers are useless without that sense of direction, that harnessing of the energy, that directing of the power provided by the rudder, hidden from view, relatively small in size but absolutely essential in function.

gavarret-follow-christOur Father provided the sun, the moon, and the stars—heavenly galaxies to guide mariners who sail the lanes of the sea. To us, as we walk the pathway of life, He provides a clear map and points the way toward our desired destination. He cautions: beware the detours, the pitfalls, the traps. We cannot be deceived by those who would lead us astray, those clever pied pipers of sin beckoning here or there. Instead, we pause to pray; we listen to that still, small voice which speaks to the depths of our souls the Master’s gentle invitation, “Come, follow me.”2

Yet there are those who do not hear, who will not obey, who prefer to walk a path of their own making. Too often they succumb to the temptations which surround all of us and which can appear so enticing.

We have been placed on earth in troubled times. We live in a complex world with currents of conflict everywhere to be found. Political schemes ruin the stability of nations, despots grasp for power, and segments of society seem forever downtrodden, deprived of opportunity and left with a feeling of failure. The sophistries of men ring in our ears, and sin surrounds us.

Ours is the responsibility to be worthy of all the glorious blessings our Father in Heaven has in store for us. Wherever we go, our priesthood goes with us. Are we standing in holy places? Please, before you put yourself and your priesthood in jeopardy by venturing into places or participating in activities which are not worthy of you or of that priesthood, pause to consider the consequences.

Be an Example

lighthouse2We … can make a difference. When we maintain our personal purity and honor our priesthood, we become righteous examples for others to follow. The Apostle Paul admonished, “Be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”3 He also wrote that the followers of Christ should be “as lights in the world.”4 Providing an example of righteousness can help to illuminate an increasingly dark world.

Eldon Tanner served as a counselor to four Presidents of the Church. He provided an undeviating example of righteousness throughout his career in industry, during service in the government in Canada, and as an Apostle of Jesus Christ. He gave us this inspired counsel: “Nothing will bring greater joy and success than to live according to the teachings of the gospel. Be an example; be an influence for good.”

He continued: “Every one of us has been foreordained for some work as [God’s] chosen servant on whom he has seen fit to confer the priesthood and power to act in his name. Always remember that people are looking to you for leadership and you are influencing the lives of individuals either for good or for bad, which influence will be felt for generations to come.”5

We are strengthened by the truth that the greatest force in the world today is the power of God as it works through man. To sail safely the seas of mortality, we need the guidance of that Eternal Mariner—even the great Jehovah. We reach out, we reach up to obtain heavenly help.

A well-known example of one who did not reach upward is that of Cain, son of Adam and Eve. Powerful in potential but weak of will, Cain permitted greed, envy, disobedience, and even murder to jam that personal rudder which would have guided him to safety and exaltation. The downward gaze replaced the upward look; Cain fell.

daniellionsdenIn another time and by a wicked king, a servant of God was tested. Aided by the inspiration of heaven, Daniel interpreted for the king the writing on the wall. Concerning the proffered rewards—even a royal robe, a necklace of gold, and political power—Daniel said, “Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another.”6 Great riches and power had been offered to Daniel, rewards representing the things of the world and not of God. Daniel resisted and remained faithful.

Later, when Daniel worshipped God despite a decree declaring such to be forbidden, he was thrown into a den of lions. The biblical account tells us that the following morning, “Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in … God.”7 In a time of critical need, Daniel’s determination to steer a steady course yielded divine protection and provided a sanctuary of safety. Such protection and safety can be ours as we also steer that steady course toward our eternal home.

Good vs. Evil Throughout History

courageThe clock of history, like the sands of the hourglass, marks the passage of time. A new cast occupies the stage of life. The problems of our day loom ominously before us. Throughout the history of the world, Satan has worked tirelessly for the destruction of the followers of the Savior. If we succumb to his enticings, we—like the mighty Bismarck—will lose that rudder which can guide us to safety. Instead, surrounded by the sophistication of modern living, we look heavenward for that unfailing sense of direction, that we might chart and follow a wise and proper course. Our Heavenly Father will not leave our sincere petition unanswered. As we seek heavenly help, our rudder, unlike that of the Bismarck, will not fail.

As we venture forth on our individual voyages, may we sail safely the seas of life. May we have the courage of a Daniel, that we might remain true and faithful despite the sin and temptation which surround us.

May our testimonies be as deep and as strong as that of Jacob, the brother of Nephi, who, when confronted by one who sought in every way possible to destroy his faith, declared,

“I could not be shaken.”8

With the rudder of faith guiding our passage, brethren, we too will find our way safely home—home to God, to dwell with Him eternally.

YouTube Video: Government Experiment vs. Infant Safety

Heritage Update—

Sharyl Attkisson on Preemie Study: ‘The Federal Government, at the Very Least, Made a Mistake’

YouTube Video:

Did a government-funded experiment put the lives of 1,316 premature babies at serious risk? Investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson explains the ethical debate surrounding a multiyear study of these fragile infants, in the third part of her “Full Disclosure”series for The Daily Signal.

SUPPORT, a study that deliberately manipulated oxygen levels assigned to extremely premature babies, was sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, a branch of the Department of Health and Human Services. The body responsible for monitoring ethics violations in such studies, the Office for Human Research Protections, is also a part of HHS.

According to Attkisson’s report, this resulted in a “government vs. government” dispute. “The federal government funded the study, basically approved the study, [and] oversaw the study,” she said in the interview. “I think it’s clear that the federal government, at the very least, made a mistake.”

The HHS ethics body’s attempts to enforce what it found to be violations of the parental consent process stalled because of “pressure by the research community and by senior officials in the federal government who really didn’t want this to go much further,” Attkisson said. Going forward, she argues, “There needs to be something that’s said at the end of all this. What did the researchers do wrong, what do they need to do to correct this and make sure the same type of thing doesn’t happen again?”

Full Disclosure: Did Government’s Experiment on Preemies Hide Risks?

Just 25 weeks into her pregnancy, Sharrissa Cook gave birth to a critically ill baby boy. Dreshan weighed in at a fragile 1 pound, 11 ounces. He lay motionless in the incubator, connected to tubes and monitors in the neonatal intensive care unit at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital.

“He was so tiny,” Cook recalls. “I was a first-time mom. I didn’t have a clue. I didn’t know what to expect.”

It was Oct. 11, 2006. Medical personnel asked Cook, then a 26-year-old single mother, to enroll little Dreshan in a study. She says they described it as a program offering assistance and encouragement to preemies—premature babies—and their families. She readily signed the consent form.

“I remember them telling me they were a support group who would pretty much hold my hand through the developmental process,” Cook says.

But in reality, the study was much more than that. It was a national, government-funded experiment on 1,316 extremely premature infants in which their fate may as well have rested with the flip of a coin.

Other single moms who were among those persuaded to sign up their critically ill babies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital describe similar misunderstandings of the study’s purpose.

Bernita Lewis, then a 22-year-old student, says she enrolled her premature newborn, Christian, after medical personnel told her it simply was to gather data such as weight and height.

And Survonda Banks, then 21, unemployed and on public assistance, says someone handed her the consent form on her way in for an emergency C-section at 28 weeks of pregnancy. Banks remembers being told only that it was a way to help her baby, Destiny.

‘Parents Were Misled’

The government-backed study is called SUPPORT, which stands for “Surfactant, Positive Airway Pressure, and Pulse Oximetry Randomized Trial.” The experiment was conducted at 23 academic institutions from 2005 through 2009 under the National Institutes of Health, part of the Department of Health and Human Services.

All three women now say they never would have agreed to take part if they had known the NIH-funded study’s true nature—to randomly manipulate preemie oxygen levels. They discovered that just last year.

Dreshan and Christian are now 7 years old and both struggle with myriad health problems. Destiny died within three weeks. The mothers wonder: Did the experiment contribute to any of the medical problems of their children?

“[Dreshan] was already at a slim chance of surviving; why would I make his chances of surviving more slim?” Cook asks.

‘Our cities are being overrun’

Sheriffs around the country are planning to march on the nation’s capital, hoping to send a message to President Obama and Congress that they oppose amnesty for illegal immigrants.

Sheriff-Thomas-HodgsonThe Dec. 10 rally in Washington, D.C., is being organized by two sheriffs from Massachusetts – Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson and Plymouth County Sheriff Joseph McDonald.

They have challenged America’s other sheriffs, asking for at least 200 of them to join in paying a visit to the Capitol to make a stand against amnesty and plead for Congress and the president to secure the border. More than 20 have already signed up to participate, Hodgson told WND.

The march will culminate in a meeting with Republican leaders at the Capitol building regarding possible legislation to secure the border “once and for all.”

Hodgson has sent a letter to sheriffs nationwide asking them to join him in the rally.

He told WND he’s already heard from 20 to 25 sheriffs who have committed to join him on the trip to Washington. The letter states in part:

bordersheriff“As you know, the policies of recent years that encourage immigrants to illegally enter our country have created serious threats to our domestic and national security. The citizens of our nation are counting on the American Sheriffs to fulfill our oath to preserve law and order and live up to our responsibilities as guardians of the United States Constitution.

“Given the fact that 25 people are killed each day by illegal immigrants, and our schools are becoming overcrowded and more costly, our public health is threatened by new diseases and ailments introduced by people living in our communities illegally, and the fact that benefits are being given and violations of the law forgiven for a select group of non-citizens, makes clear our obligation to act now before we erode the confidence and the faith citizens have in Sheriffs across the country and throughout our history.”

Hodgson told WND that sheriffs across this country “are tired of being marginalized, either by the inaction of Congress or the overreaction by the president of the United States, who have put us in this situation.”

Hodgson said he started thinking about planning the march while at the National Sheriffs Association Conference in Dallas-Fort Worth earlier this year.

bordersheriff2“One of the things I raised was that the people of the United States have always looked to the American sheriff as someone who looks out for public safety and they are not looked at in a partisan way, so it seemed to me we need to stand up to support the border sheriffs,” Hodgson said. “We all have become border sheriffs.”

He said President Obama’s 2012 executive order allowing illegals to stay in the country for two years and entitling them to a hearing, “caused all sorts of problems” for law enforcement.

“The word got out and the cartels realized immediately that was a great way to make money, and it has netted them millions and millions of dollars smuggling people to the border,” Hodgson said. “That was done with the stroke of a pen in June 2012, which was an election year.”

Obama chooses to act on ‘Revolution Day’

Just after 12 p.m. Wednesday, the White House posted a Facebook announcement that reads as follows:

Obama_emperor“It’s time to fix our broken immigration system. Tomorrow night (November 20th), President Obama will address the nation on new commonsense steps he’s taking to fix as much of it as he can. Tune in tomorrow at 8pm ET. “

Thursday’s date, Nov. 20, is significant, says William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration.

“November 20 is Mexican ‘Revolution Day’ or Mexican ‘Civil War Day’ which is the equivalent of America’s 4th of July,” Gheen said. “Obama’s choice of this date for his departure from his Oath of Office and the U.S. Constitution creates a permanent symbolic relationship between his actions and Mexico’s violent revolutionary and civil wars from 1910-1920.

“We know homicides are down in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, but the point is the president did this. They are trying to place children all over the country. They have to hire translators, etc., and the costs are overwhelming,” Hodgson said. “We have one situation in Lowell, Massachusetts, where the mayor is saying, ‘Our schools are bursting at the seams. We just can’t afford this anymore.’

Bring in the Israelis

israel_flagHodgson said he has been calling for officials in Washington to bring in Israeli border security officials as consultants to help map out a comprehensive border security plan.

“Frankly … because nobody is better at border security than the Israelis,” he said.

He describes it this way for the uninitiated: If you were looking out your kitchen window and saw a strange man walking through your backyard, would you turn away and take your chances on whether that stranger meant harm or was “just passing through”?

“We’ve got criminals, gang members, drug dealers and now al-Qaida working with the cartels, and we have reports that ISIS could be doing the same thing,” Hodgson said. “Since when do we turn our back on that? You wouldn’t turn your back if someone you didn’t know was walking through your backyard. We need to know who’s coming in and who’s here.”

Hodgson said he believes there’s more to it than just Washington lacking the will to do what’s right. He believes the Obama administration has sinister motives.

ObamaCommunist“They want to build a socialist system,” he said.

And how do you do that?

“You overburden the existing system until it collapses,” he said. “We can’t let it happen. Our Founding Fathers would disown us if we let it happen.”

Immigration crisis flooding America with criminals and threatening American Safety—Neither Moral nor Compassionate

The Solution: Simply enforce the immigration laws that already exist

flag1“This is not a red thing, this is not a blue thing—it is a red, white, and blue thing.”

Notes from the Documentary

C.A. Davidson

Here is truth about the immigration crisis, including the fact that the 9-11 attacks were based on immigration fraud. Terrorists and criminals are sneaking across the border from all over the world. Drug cartels are taking advantage of Barack Obama’s decrees; brutalizing aliens, and intimidating American citizens by threatening their families. The Obama administration is helping drug and human trafficking with its policies. At drug and human traffic checkpoints, 80% of the entrants are OTM, other than Mexican.

Murders and rapes are occurring in inland counties, including the rape and murder of a 93-year old woman by a 19-year old illegal alien; and countless children, youth, and other innocents of all ages, races: black, Hispanic, or white; residents are leaving, diminishing tax money available for safety.

Many aliens don’t make it to their trafficking contacts; in the last 68 months, 448 bodies have been recovered in Bucks County. Local citizens are making serious efforts to help law enforcement. Because of refusal to honor the Constitution and enforce the laws, the safety of all legal American citizens is seriously threatened, and the truth is that the hands of Barack Obama are drenched in the blood of these people.

Health News Update: Obama vs. American Safety

Health News Update:

1. Obama dumped Bush-era quarantine proposal

Regulations aimed to prevent travelers from spreading disease; Obama administration places political correctness before American safety

Jerome R. Corsi

ebolaquarantineairport-boardingNEW YORK – In 2010, the Obama administration quietly dumped Bush-era plans to enact quarantine regulations supported by the Centers for Disease Control that were designed to prevent travelers from spreading infectious diseases.

Travelers would have been required to submit detailed personal information before boarding a flight or ship.

As first reported by USA Today April 1, 2010, the quarantine rules had been touted in 2006 by the CDC as “critical to protecting Americans from dangerous diseases spread by travelers.”

The CDC reported Tuesday the first case of Ebola diagnosed in the U.S. The patient, a Liberian national, had traveled to Dallas from Liberia Sept. 20 via Brussels, Belgium.

The regulations were proposed by the Bush administration in 2005 during the height of avian and swine flu fears. The rules would have required airlines to report to federal authorities any ill passengers. They mandated that airlines collect information on international passengers – including email addresses, traveling companions and return flight details – to make it easier to trace passengers in any investigation of a disease outbreak.

USA Today reported the Air Transport Association of America decried the proposal as imposing “unprecedented” regulations on airlines at costs they couldn’t afford. The American Civil Liberties Union objected to potential privacy rights violations and the proposal’s “provisional quarantine” rule that would have allowed the CDC “to detain people involuntarily for three business days if the agency believed they had certain diseases: pandemic flu, infectious tuberculosis, plague, cholera, SARS, smallpox, yellow fever, diphtheria or viral hemorrhagic fevers such as Ebola.”

2. What You Need to Know About Ebola

The current outbreak of Ebola virus in Dallas has people all over the United States panicked about the possibility of Ebola coming to their hometown.

Ben Shapiro

Breitbart News

ebola-hose-down-apApparently, the person who contracted Ebola did so while in Liberia, then traveled to the United States without symptoms. According to Centers for Disease Control Director Thomas Frieden, four or five days afterward, the patient became symptomatic and went to Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. The Ebola patient is “critically ill at this point,” Friedan told CBS. Most troubling, the patient went to the emergency room on Thursday but was sent back home with an antibiotic, then had to call an ambulance on Sunday. In the interim, the symptomatic patient could have passed along the disease.

Here’s what you need to know about Ebola: what it looks like, how it is transmitted, and what the chances are that you will be confronted with it.

Symptoms. According to the CDC, symptoms look a lot like the flu – a particularly troublesome problem given that we are now entering flu season. The CDC lists the following symptoms, which generally appear within 8 to 10 days after exposure to Ebola:

  • Fever of above 101.5°F;
  • Severe headache;
  • Muscle pain;
  • Weakness;
  • Diarrhea;
  • Vomiting;
  • Abdominal pain;
  • Unexplained hemorrhage (bleeding or bruising).

Treatment. If you come down with these symptoms, go to a hospital immediately. There is no antibiotic treatment or vaccine for Ebola virus; essentially, your immune system is the only defense against Ebola virus. Once you are placed in isolation, you will likely be given intravenous fluids to ensure that you do not become dehydrated; secondary infections could be treated with antibiotics.

Transmission. The only way to contract Ebola is to come into direct contact with blood or bodily fluids – generally, stool, vomit, semen, or urine. The CDC warns that saliva or sweat or mucus could also transmit Ebola, but the risk of such transmission is slighter than transmission via direct contact with other bodily fluids. Use of infected needles could also transmit Ebola virus. In the United States, the threat of contracting Ebola from animals is minimal. Those most at risk are hospital workers, particularly if they are not wearing hand covering, eye covering, or masks. Once someone has been infected with Ebola, they can transmit the virus for up to three months.

Will You Confront Ebola? The chances of you seeing Ebola breakouts on the streets of your cities are extraordinarily low. Frieden has said, “We do not anticipate this will spread in the US if an infected person is hospitalized here.” Alerts have gone out to hospitals across the country regarding treatment of those suspected of having contracted Ebola. American hospitals are trained to deal with Ebola, and American medical workers routinely wear gear designed to protect them from transmission of diseases – and Ebola is harder to transmit than other commonly-transmitted serious diseases in the United States, such as tuberculosis.

As I’ve pointed out in this space, the conditions leading to an Ebola outbreak in Africa are significantly different than the conditions in the United States. With that said, the situation in Dallas should put us all on guard regarding Ebola and the necessity for isolation – if hospitals send home those with Ebola, an outbreak becomes a far more real possibility.

1. Heritage: More States Are Rejecting Common Core

More and more states are becoming independent and withdrawing from participation in Common Core, the one-size-fits-all education scheme pushed by the federal government.

Widespread frustration with Common Core–parents, teachers, and students alike are pushing back–is leading more states to take back their education autonomy.

Heritage education expert Lindsey Burke explains that Ohio could be the latest state to buck the standards.

What do you think of this push back against Common Core?

2. School District Quits Michelle Obama Lunch Program

The state’s second largest school district has started the school year with a new look for its lunch menu, after opting out of the National School Lunch Program and forfeiting nearly $1 million in federal funding, to gain more freedom in the food it serves students.

In May, the board for Township High School District 214 voted to drop out of the federal program, after deciding its guidelines were too restrictive. For instance, kids would not have been able to buy hard-boiled eggs or certain types of yogurt. School officials also have noted new guidelines consider hummus to be too high in fat, and pretzels to be too high in salt; non-fat milk containers larger than 12 ounces could not be sold either.

I know it is slightly off topic but I have to wonder: is current nutritional science really this hateful and hurtful? Is it really impossible to eat good food that is healthy for you and that satisfies you? Reading about these guidelines gives one the impression they are designed to produce malnourished teens that are constantly distracted by hunger. (But what do I know? I drink my coffee with butter and coconut oil.)

In any case, the school district is “rebelling.” That is how I have described other schools doing the same thing, as have many other conservatives. But some of the details in this story make me realize it is not so much about them rebelling as that they are financially forced to opt out of the Federal program. While the story claims that the school district “forfeit[ed] nearly $1 million in federal funding to gain more freedom,” it later becomes clear that they did not forfeit anything. The program effectively ended the reimbursement program.

School-lunchesHere’s how it worked.

Schools that serve the lunches can get a certain amount reimbursed. But in order to get reimbursed, the students must actually purchase the food. But the students stopped buying the food. So rather than get money the school district was losing money. It was spending money to acquire and prepare food that no one would buy. So the school was stuck with food and no way to cover their costs.

3. Ted Cruz Introduces the Expatriate Terrorist Act

A plan for American Safety

Daniel Doherty | Sep 08, 2014

TedCruzIn an effort to prevent traitorous Americans from joining ISIS, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) introduced legislation on Monday that would revoke their U.S. citizenships if they do.

Speaking on the Senate floor this afternoon, he explained why such legislation is finally necessary.

“ISIS is a study in oppression and brutality that is conducting ethnic cleansing against religious minorities in the region, that is targeting and persecuting Christians, and that is attempting to subject the local population to the strictest forms of Sharia Law,” he said. “And ISIS has gruesomely murdered U.S. civilians and, indeed, journalists on the public stage.”

Washington lawmakers must therefore take two forms of action to protect Americans. First, he argued, securing all U.S. borders.

“It is beyond time for us to secure our borders,” he declared. “Representing the state of Texas, which has a border nearly 2,000 miles long, I know firsthand just how unsecure the border is right now.”

“This week of all weeks with the anniversary of the September 11th attacks upon us, we can have no illusions that terrorists won’t try to make good on their specific threats to attack America,” he continued. “And as long as our border isn’t secure, we’re making it far too easy for the terrorists to carry through on those promises.”

Secondly, he said, Washington lawmakers “should take commonsense steps to make fighting for or supporting ISIS a [citizenship-stripping offense].

“That is why I have today filed legislation which would amend the existing statute governing renunciation of United States citizenship,” he announced.

“[Defeating ISIS] requires clear, decisive, unified action,” he continued. “And it is my hope that all of us will come together supporting such action.”

4. God-Centered Comic Book

GodcomicWhen most people think about God, they picture a grumpy old man in the sky handing out impossible rules and smiting people. It’s not often that we have the opportunity to see God as the inventor of humor and a connoisseur of friendship. Knocking on Heaven’s Door explores the relationship between a little boy named Spencer and his best friend‐God. This collection of comic strips (with behind-the-scenes notes from writer/comedian Tommy Blaze and artist Nate Fakes), is equally whimsical and profound.

As author Tommy Blaze puts it,

If Knocking on Heaven’s Door is about anything, it’s about our relationship with God and the understanding that He wants to be included in our everyday lives, no matter how seemingly trivial or insipid…How could Spencer truly have a personal relationship with an omnipotent being so clearly superior to him? The answer is in the question. God can do anything He wants, which includes empathizing with a little kid and really getting down on his level.
