President Obama, History Timeline, and War in Syria

History Timeline: See the Pattern

Note: This can be confusing. Keep in mind that Bashar [al Assad], present dictator of Syria, is not a good man, but he is not in the Al Qaeda camp. The Syrian rebels, who Obama seems to be supporting, are Al Qaeda terrorists. There is substantial evidence that the rebels may have gassed their own people, using chemical weapons they probably obtained last summer. Both sides are bad, so there is no reason to support either side, except for Obama to save face—war for ego. The following timeline shows how history is repeating itself. Clinton fell for Muslim deception then, and the same deception is working now on Obama. And Obama is repeating Jimmy Carter’s disastrous policies. All cases involved Muslims and Democrat Presidents.

BREAKING: Polls show 10 to 1 that the American people do not want intervention in Syria, especially when it is increasingly evident that the Al Qaeda-connected Syrian rebel thugs are responsible for the gassing. Phones in Washington are exploding with opposition.

From Rush Limbaugh Radio Show

KerrybloodyhandsRUSH: Russia says they have compiled a 100-page report blaming the Syrian rebels for the chemical weapons attack, not Assad, just as we reported on this program on Tuesday.  A 100-page report.  Now, I don’t know about you, but what does it feel like to have to agree with a former KGB agent?  “The Russian statement warned the United States and its allies –” which, in this case, is France “– not to conduct a military strike against Syria until the United Nations had completed a similarly detailed scientific study into the August 21st attack.”  Russia’s done their own.  It’s a 100-page report.  Russia has found that the Syrian rebels did the attack.

In, get this headline:

“Obama Struggles to Convince Congress Syria Isn’t About Him.”    Exactly as I think we mentioned on this program last week and this, that no matter what, it’s all about Obama.

How will what we do or don’t do in Syria affect Obama?  How will it affect the 2014 midterms?  How will it affect Obama’s legacy, all of that.  “Obama Struggles to Convince Congress Syria Isn’t About Him — President Obama is struggling to convince lawmakers, foreign leaders and the public that military action in Syria isn’t about him.”  That’s hard to do.  Because the entire last five years have been nothing but being all about Obama.  And now Vladimir Putin is calling John Kerry a liar.

Putin can call Kerry a liar, and there’s history. The thing is, Putin’s a liar, too.  Everybody in this play is a liar!  So all that’s left is to figure them both and try to piece together facts, and are there any facts?  Do facts come from the Al-Qaeda rebels?  Do they come from the Russians?  Would anybody believe the UN?  You know, Obama lied about the stimulus bill, he lied about Obamacare, he lied about the IRS, he lied about Fast and Furious, he lied about Benghazi.

RUSH:  That is an excellent point.  We can get all the dirt on Bashar Assad we want.  We can get all the information on the rebels we want, we can get all the information on Putin we want, and we can blab it to the world. But when it comes to the anything about Obama and our own country and our own administration and our own administration’s actions in various events, we don’t know.

History Timeline

It’s back to the former Yugoslavia all over again, isn’t it?

RUSH:  It is.

CALLER:  What you and I were talking about 20 years ago.

RUSH:  In 1995, exactly right.

CALLER:  These types of crimes against your people are not just Sarajevo.  It happened all over the formula Yugoslavia, and people just fell for all the PR that was given out to the press, et cetera.  The press was supposedly doing stories and all they did was sit in the saloons and get drunk and read their PR forms passed in front of them. And, by the way, I carried Yossef Bodansky’s book in my car for 20 years, passing it out to whomever I thought needed an education.  There are a lot of people.

I want to go back and tell you a little bit about Yossef Bodansky whose piece I cited today. I ran across it this morning in show prep. It dovetailed with a couple of e-mails I received on Saturday from friends, that I discounted, by the way.  I thought they sounded too tinfoil hat conspiracy stuff.  I discarded them.  Then I see this piece, and then I learn that this is the same deception that was practiced in 1995. The same deception that was used in Sarajevo in 1995 to provoke air strikes against the Serbs for the benefit of the Bosnian Muslims.

He’s excellent.  Yossef Bodansky is the piece I cited today, and he has written extensively on how this same kind of deception was in fact used in the Sarajevo — the Bosnian Serbs — the Muslims in Sarajevo, 1995, same exact thing being done here.

In both cases, Muslims are involved.  In both cases, Democrat Party presidents are involved.  In both cases, Muslims conduct a deception, an operation of deception that we either are party to, lured into, or we are fooled by, one of the three.  And Mr. Bodansky, and I read to you his resume and it’s impressive.  And all of this is at, the article, if you want you can read about him on Wikipedia. I don’t want to repeat myself.  I’ve got too much here left to do, but he’s highly credible. He has written about this extensively, particularly what happened back in Sarajevo in 1995 to provoke the air strikes against the Serbs.

My friends, do you remember when the Syrian rebels overran and controlled a government base that had chemical weapons last summer?  Even Leon Panetta admitted that chemical weapons may have fallen into their hands.  This was last summer.  I doubt that you remembered this.  I doubt that anybody remembers it. Even people who keep up with the news every day, I doubt that anybody remembers that, so I want to remind you.

Syrian rebels — the same rebels that we’re talking about today — overran and controlled a government base, a Bashar Assad base, admittedly, that had chemical weapons last summer. And even Leon Panetta admitted that chemical weapons may have fallen into the hands of the opposition last summer.  Now meanwhile, John Kerry and the regime and the media have used as their main argument the rebels have never had access to these chemical weapons.

I mean, I’m not the first one to float it nor are the people who sent me their thoughts on it, nor is Yossef Bodansky the first.  It’s been talked about in Washington.  There hasn’t been a lot of news reported about it. But in dissecting events in Syria, people have posed the possibility in a rhetorical way.  John Kerry and the Obama administration and the media have all used as their main argument that the rebels have never had access to the chemical weapons that the Syrian regime holds.

That’s why I want to remind you of the news story last summer that Syrian rebels overran and controlled a government base that had chemical weapons last summer, and Panetta admitted that those weapons may have fallen into the hands of the rebels.  Kerry and the regime say that that didn’t happen, that the US government has kept track.  Which, folks, is simply not true.

Did the White House Help Plan the Syrian Chemical Attack?

(Jossef Bodansky)

“The extent of US foreknowledge of this provocation needs further investigation because available data puts the ‘horror’ of the Barack Obama White House in a different and disturbing light.” The way that’s written, what it means is Obama is describing what happened in Syria as a horror, and it’s something we as a freedom loving, decent, good-hearted people cannot tolerate. It’s a horror.

Well, what Mr. Bodansky is saying is that “available data puts the ‘horror’ of the Barack Obama White House in a different and disturbing light,” meaning it’s not Bashar doing the horrible things. It’s the rebels nerve gassing themselves, framing Bashar, setting him up so as to engineer a response that takes Bashar out; so that the Al-Qaeda guys win, and then we end up on the side of Al-Qaeda, and you’ve heard that being speculated about.

“There is a growing volume of new evidence from numerous sources in the Middle East — mostly affiliated with the Syrian opposition and its sponsors and supporters — which makes a very strong case, based on solid circumstantial evidence, that the August 21, 2013, chemical strike in the Damascus suburbs was indeed a pre-meditated provocation by the Syrian opposition. The extent of US foreknowledge of this provocation needs further investigation because available data puts the ‘horror’ of the Barack Obama White House in a different and disturbing light.”

What if Bashar Assad didn’t do it?

Sit tight, ’cause I’ve got a story by a man whose credibility is intact and beyond repute.  His name is Yossef Bodansky. He “is an Israeli-American political scientist who served as Director of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare of the US House of Representatives from 1988 to 2004. He is also Director of Research of the International Strategic Studies Association and has been a visiting scholar at Johns Hopkins University’s Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).

“In the 1980s, he served as a senior consultant for the Department of Defense and the Department of State. He is also a senior editor for the Defense and Foreign Affairs group of publications and a contributor to the International Military and Defense Encyclopedia and is on the Advisory Council of The Intelligence Summit,” and he has a piece today in Defense and Foreign Affairs. “There is a growing volume of new evidence” that the White House knew and possibly helped plan a Syrian chemical weapon attack by the opposition.

What if Bashar Assad is being framed?

Obama is toppling stable dictators and replacing them with radical Islamist dictators

This is Jimmy Carter’s second term here.  This is absolutely frightening what’s happening here.  Obama with this inadvertent, trying to make himself look like a tough guy, red line comment this past summer.  Well, the Syrians crossed the red line, so Obama’s obligated.  And late in the week last week, he said, “You know what?  I’m gonna go get congressional authority,” after maintaining he didn’t need it, maintaining he didn’t want it, maintaining he’s gonna be a tough guy, gonna act alone. He’s gonna save the people of Syria. He’s gonna make sure this Bashar guy gets what’s coming to him.

We’ve already got it Turkey.  We’ve got a militant radical Islamist running Turkey.  It makes sense we want one here? Do we want Hamas and Hezbollah running countries outside of Gaza?  That’s where we’re headed, because Obama thinks guys like Mubarak and Assad are reprobates ’cause they had previous relationships with previous American presidents, and America is the problem in the world and so we gotta ditch all that.

Detroit: History, Timeline, and Socialism

Compare Detroit, Then and Now

The anniversary of the birthday of Henry Ford is on July 30. His most important contribution, more than the Ford model itself, was the assembly line mode of production, which made automobiles affordable for the average American. Detroit, Michigan once was the crown jewel of the automobile industry, and one of the most prosperous cities in the country. Today, due to liberal and socialist policies during years of rule by the Democrat party, it is destroyed. As the saying goes, “when the wicked rule, the people mourn.”  Below we can learn from a history timeline and analysis by Rush Limbaugh. ~C.A. Davidson

From the Rush Limbaugh Radio Show

DetroitthenandnowA lot of people alive today have no memory of the Detroit that was.  Detroit, Michigan, was at one time one of the great cities in the world.  It was among the richest and most successful cities in this country.  It was the envy of the world, primarily because the assembly line to mass produce automobiles was invented there, and the automobile industry’s home was Detroit.  Motown, Berry Gordy.

It was the envy of the world, and now it’s the biggest city in the United States to ever go bankrupt.  And why?  Two things, that are actually under the same umbrella:  unions and unchecked liberalism have led to the bankruptcy of Detroit.  Would you like to hear something that is, to me, interesting historically?  Detroit, now bankrupt, was where companies first started offering health care benefits and other perks in order to compete for skilled labor during World War II when there were wage and price controls.  And so with wage and price controls, the market will always outsmart government and limits, and so the birth of health care benefits was created in Detroit as a means of becoming attractive to people seeking good jobs, because there were wage and price controls in place in World War II.

And now those very benefits have killed the city of their birth, the birth of the health care benefit.  I mean, the chickens have come home to roost, in the famous words of Reverend Wright.  Is that not something?  The city where health care benefits were created have been brought down, essentially, by health care benefits and pensions and unions.  Whatever else Detroit is, it is the epitome of everything that’s wrong with the Democrat Party.  And yet Obama is going to launch another speaking tour today about his latest new economic plan, which is really just the same old thing he’s been saying for five years and what Detroit has been practicing for the last 30 years.

Detroit has been run exclusively by the Democrats for over 30 years, folks.  The last Republican mayor in Detroit was elected in 1957.  Only one Republican has been elected to the city council in Detroit since 1970.  Back in 1960 the city of Detroit actually had the highest per capita income in the country.  My, how things change.  In 1960, 53 years ago, the city of Detroit actually had the highest per capita income in the entire nation.  Sixty years ago Detroit was the fourth largest city in the United States.  And since then, in the last 60 years, Detroit has lost 63% of its population.  The statistics, there are 25 facts about Detroit and its plunge to bankruptcy that will stun and amaze you.

RUSH: I mentioned at the top of the program, I talked about Detroit and the statistics, how great Detroit used to be.  And it was.  Detroit was one of the four greatest cities in this country and one of the greatest cities in the world.  It was one of the most productive.  It was a city that had one of the highest per capita incomes in the world back in the 1950s and the 1960s.  Detroit was a model city.  However, I find it fascinating.  Detroit was the place where the whole concept of health care benefits to employees was created.  During World War II there were wage and price controls.  Companies therefore needed ways to attract really qualified employees and since they couldn’t pay them any more money, they had to come up with something that wasn’t controlled, and that would have been something they had to invent.

So they invented the benefit.  In this case, the health insurance benefit.  And it’s one of the things that ends up doing Detroit in.  That and unions, that and the pensions.  Detroit is a city, I think the last Republican mayor in Detroit was 1957.  Detroit has been run unchecked by liberal Democrats for 40-plus, 50 years.  It’s bankrupt.  But there are some facts about the fall of Detroit that will just stun and amaze you.  Every one of these facts comes from a news story about the subject, every one of these 25.  I’m gonna take a time-out here and we’ll come back and I’ll run through this list.  And I will review some of the statistics about Detroit’s greatness in years gone by.

Sixty years ago, Detroit had the highest per capita income in the entire nation.  Sixty years ago, more people earned more money in Detroit than anywhere else. Sixty years ago, Detroit was the fourth largest city in America.  In the last 60 years, Detroit has lost 63% of its population.  Now, I’ll give you some fascinating facts, compiled here by the Economic Collapse blog.  Every one of these facts is the result of a news story.

Every one of these facts has a link back to a news story”Once upon a time, the city of Detroit was a teeming metropolis of 1.8 million people and it had the highest per capita income in the United States.  Now it is a rotting, decaying hellhole of about 700,000 people that the rest of the world makes jokes about. …  1) At this point, the city of Detroit owes money to more than 100,000 creditors.  2) Detroit is facing $20 billion in debt and unfunded liabilities.  That breaks down to more than $25,000 per resident.”

I keep saying this, and I’m going to say it again: “3) Back in 1960, the city of Detroit actually had the highest per-capita income in the entire nation.  4) In 1950, there were about 296,000 manufacturing jobs in Detroit.  Today, there are less than 27,000. In 63 years, we’ve gone from 296,000 manufacturing jobs to less than 27,000. “5) Between December 2000 and December 2010, 48% of the manufacturing jobs in the state of Michigan were lost.  6) There are lots of houses available for sale in Detroit right now for $500 or less.”

Dennis Rodman owns about 25 of them. Just kidding on that. “7) At this point, there are approximately 78,000 abandoned homes in the city.  8) About one-third of Detroit’s 140 square miles is either vacant or derelict.”  Stop and think about these things now.  “9) An astounding 47% of the residents of the city of Detroit are functionally illiterate,” but they know how to say, “Obama stash!” My God, folks, less than half of the residents of Detroit can read! “10) Less than half of the residents of Detroit over the age of 16 are working at this point.

“11) If you can believe it, 60% of all children in the city of Detroit are living in poverty.” I believe all… Well, it’s not a question of believing it.  It’s true.  “12) Detroit was once the fourth-largest city in the United States, but over the past 60 years the population of Detroit has fallen by 63%.  13) The city of Detroit is now very heavily dependent on the tax revenue it pulls in from the casinos in the city.  Right now, Detroit is bringing in about $11 million a month in tax revenue from the casinos,” while 50% of the children live in poverty and less than half the residents over the age of 16 are working.

They’re all eating, by the way.

And they’ve all got their Obama phones.

And they’re all probably driving.

“14) There are 70 ‘Superfund’ hazardous waste sites in Detroit.  15) 40% of the street lights do not work.  16) Only about a third of the ambulances are running.  17) Some ambulances in the city of Detroit have been used for so long that they have more than 250,000 miles on them.  18) Two-thirds of the parks in the city of Detroit have been permanently closed down since 2008.  19) The size of the police force in Detroit has been cut by about 40% over the past decade.  20) When you call the police in Detroit, it takes them an average of 58 minutes to respond.”

I know in New York, that sounds like a lot. “21) Due to budget cutbacks, most police stations in Detroit are now closed to the public for 16 hours a day.  22) The violent crime rate in Detroit is five times higher than the national average.  23) The murder rate in Detroit is 11 times higher than it is in New York City.  24) Today, police solve less than 10% of the crimes that are committed in Detroit.”  Folks, if this town were run by a Republican, or had been, do you think anything would have been done about this?

Do you think you would know about this if a Republican or if the Republican Party had anything to do with this?  “25) Crime has gotten so bad in Detroit that even the police are telling people to ‘enter Detroit at your own risk.'” Now, as this website says, “It is easy to point fingers and mock Detroit, but the truth is that the rest of America is going down the exact same path that Detroit has gone down.  Detroit just got there first.

“All over this country, there are hundreds of state and local governments that are also on the verge of financial ruin… ‘Everyone will say, “Oh well, it’s Detroit. I thought it was already in bankruptcy,”‘ said Michigan State University economist Eric Scorsone. ‘But Detroit is not unique. It’s the same in Chicago and New York and San Diego and San Jose. It’s a lot of major cities in this country. They may not be as extreme as Detroit, but a lot of them face the same problems.’ …

“All over the nation, our economic infrastructure is being gutted, debt levels are exploding and poverty is spreading.  We are consuming far more wealth than we are producing, and our share of global GDP has been declining dramatically.  We have been living way above our means for so long that we think it is ‘normal,’ but an extremely painful ‘adjustment’ is coming and most Americans are not going to know how to handle it,” and this idiot judge, the bankruptcy judge just made it worse.

The bankruptcy judge in Detroit said, “Wait a minute! You can’t do none of this.  Why, the constitution of Detroit or Michigan or whatever says that every benefit recipient will continue to receive their benefits, no matter what,” And then this judge said something about how we’ve gotta do this in honor of Obama, who saved Detroit by saving General Motors.  I’m paraphrasing, but it was something like that.  Get this:

Only 7% of Detroit public school eighth graders are proficient in reading

Folks, this is just unacceptable, and there are reasons for this.  This is what happens when there is capitulation to the Democrats. This is what happens when everybody goes along with ’em. It’s what happens when their power is unchecked. This is what happens when all you have is Democrat liberalism running whatever it is — a city, a union, a country, any other organization. You end up with abject misery, despair, and total annihilation.  That’s just what they do, folks.

It’s not me saying it.

It’s Detroit living it.

Economy: History Timeline and Facts

Dinner Topics for Thursday

Month-Defining Moment

key“Keynesian” is the term for Liberal economic policy. If you try to find a definition of it, you will quickly get lost in all the liberal verbiage. Here, from American Thinker, is a definition in plain English. At the conclusion of this post you’ll find more information about why this philosophy has never worked.

Sequester: Government Spending Cuts

Keynesian Economics: “Keynesian Economics” is the insane belief that the economy can be stimulated by government spending.  It provides the excuse to depart from common sense that allows politicians to ignore the alarm bells.  It is ludicrous mainly because our government doesn’t have any money to spend.

The New Deal was the largest real-world test of the Keynesian Myth in recent history. Franklin Roosevelt’s Treasury Secretary Henry Morgenthau confessed that the “New Deal” was a failure in sworn testimony before Congress on May 9, 1939.

“We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work.”

And FDR’s Treasury Secretary also told Congress:

“I say after eight years of this Administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started. … And an enormous debt to boot!”

1. Sequester is a policy devised by the White House in the first place

2. The actual amount of the cut is 2.3 percent of $3.6 trillion budget in 2013

3. Discretionary spending budget is still 7 percent higher than when Obama took office

4. Federal employees earn 30 to 40 percent more in salary and benefits than comparable private sector workers

5. NBC/Wall Street Journal Poll: 53 percent of Americans support sequester or want even deeper slashes

Great Sequester Hysteria of 2013

Obama Regime Policy: Keynesian Economics

1. Government must never lose a dime

2. If Americans insist on reducing government, Americans must be punished by government

1944-1947 Post World War 2

Keynesian Predictions (Translate: “Budget Cut Hysteria of 1946”)

1. Depression in 1946, economic Armageddon

2. 35 percent jobless rate

1. 1946—Federal spending fell by 66 percent in one year

2. “The ‘Depression of 1946’ may be one of the most widely predicted events that never happened in American history.” ~ Jason E. Taylor, Richard K. Vedder, Cato Institute policy report

3. 1947—Budget surplus of over 5 percent of GDP

4. In the four years from peak World War II spending in 1944 to 1948, the U.S. government cut spending by $72 billion—a 75-percent reduction. It brought federal spending down from a peak of 44 percent of [GDP] in 1944 to only 8.9 percent in  1948, a drop of over 35 percentage points of [GDP]. While government spending fell like a stone, federal tax revenues fell only …10.6 percent. Yet, the economy boomed. September 1945 to December 1948, the average unemployment rate was only 3.5 percent. ~David R. Henderson, Mercatus Center at George Mason University

5. As government spending fell by 66 percent, private investment rose by 156 percent.  ~James Pethokoukis, American Enterprise Institute

6. “Why did the U.S. economy do so well in the years following World War II, given how badly it had done in the years preceding America’s entry into the war? The answer, in a nutshell, is that dramatically reducing government spending and deregulating an economy can take that economy from sickness to health.” ~ David R. Henderson, Mercatus Center at George Mason University

The Madness of Keynesian Economics

By Jonathon Moseley

American Thinker
President Barack Obama demands more stimulus spending to avoid the “fiscal cliff.”   Obama increased the national debt $6 trillion to $16 trillion.  Yet the Democrats’ ‘cure for what ails ya’ is even more spending.   Obama demands around $75 billion in new spending to stimulate the economy in 2013.

“Keynesian Economics” is the insane belief that the economy can be stimulated by government spending.  It provides the excuse to depart from common sense that allows politicians to ignore the alarm bells.  It is ludicrous mainly because our government doesn’t have any money to spend.

If the government had a surplus saved up, spending actual money might give our economy a short-term sugar high (with dubious long-term results).   But our Federal and state governments must first suck money out of the economy by borrowing it.

History has repeatedly proven that this is nonsense.  Yet Democrats will not let go of the Keynesian Myth.  The government is the center of society, America’s modern Democrats want to believe.  So they cannot shake the dogma that our entire economy depends upon government spending.

The New Deal was the largest real-world test of the Keynesian Myth in recent history. Franklin Roosevelt’s Treasury Secretary Henry Morgenthau confessed that the “New Deal” was a failure in sworn testimony before Congress on May 9, 1939.

fdrnewdeal“We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work.”

And FDR’s Treasury Secretary also told Congress:

“I say after eight years of this Administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started. … And an enormous debt to boot!”  (See:  Human Events    and The Heritage Foundation

What’s more, Morgenthau was a friend and ally of FDR’s, not just the Treasury Secretary responsible for the finances of the New Deal.

Morgenthau made this “startling confession,” says historian Burton W. Folsom Jr., in the New Deal’s seventh year.   “In these words, Morgenthau summarized a decade of disaster, especially during the years Roosevelt was in power. Indeed average unemployment for the whole year in 1939 would be higher than that in 1931, the year before Roosevelt captured the presidency from Herbert Hoover,” Folsom’s book is “New Deal or Raw Deal?: How FDR’s Economic Legacy Has Damaged America.”

It’s like this:  You scoop water from the deep end of a swimming pool with a bucket, run around to the shallow end, and then pour the water into the shallow end of the pool.  Can you make the shallow end deeper?  The entire swimming pool is one inter-connected whole.  You are accomplishing nothing…  except spilling some water (waste) and using up energy (administrative overhead).

So our government vacuums money out of the economy by borrowing it.  The money is largely wasted because it is directed according to political goals and to benefit political cronies, not by sound economic criteria.  No one is accountable for good or bad results.  Some of the money is wasted on administrative overhead.  Some of the money is wasted on fraud or abuse or to line people’s pockets.

But nothing real has changed.  So the economy will end up right back where it was before — after a sugar rush hangover.  Salaries might be bigger only due to inflation lowering the value of the dollar.

For one thing, businesses and consumers do not change their behavior when they know that government actions are only temporary.   Only permanent changes in conditions affect economic dynamics, empirical evidence shows.

Advocates for the Keynesian Myth argue that unemployment dipped during the Great Depression from 20% to “only” 14% in 1938, before it jumped back up to 17% by 1939.  They insist that “austerity” budgets drove unemployment back up again to 17%.

So liberals admit that Keynesian Economics is a failure.  As soon as the government spending stops, the economy slumps back where it was before.  Nothing has actually changed.  The Keynesian Myth promises that the economy can be fundamentally improved.

Moreover, liberals ignore the massive debt they burden the country with.  Considering the whole picture, including the debt, the nation is left worse off than it was to start with.

Liberals argue that Roosevelt’s stimulus was not big enough and it took World War II to finally end the Great Depression.  However, Obama’s most out-spoken economist lets the truth slip:   The Great Depression ended partly because Adolf Hitler drove wealth out of Europe and into the United States.  As European war loomed in 1938 and 1939, genuine increases in real investments flowing from Europe fundamentally grew the economy.  This was real money invested in the country, not government manipulation.

Christina D. Romer is Obama’s most eager cheerleader for the Keynesian madness.  But she cannot avoid giving away the store in the process.  Romer was Chair of President Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers, and an economics professor at the University of California, Berkeley.

Romer reluctantly lets the cat out of the bag.  It was not World War II deficit spending but the military draft removing nearly 10 million men from the work force.   Nearly 10 million jobs needed to be back-filled.   Romer also reluctantly concedes that economic participation was driven by national survival.  In a recession, consumers pull back on spending out of fear and limited funds, while businesses wait for the economy to improve.  But when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, and Germany declared war under their defense pact, national output soared out of patriotism.  After the war, many of America’s global competitors had been laid waste while the USA was untouched.

Economic historian Robert Higgs offers a detailed analysis in his book Depression, War and Cold War of how Roosevelt’s New Deal made the Great Depression longer and worse and how government deficit spending during World War II did not cure the Great Depression.  Higgs notes that Roosevelt stimulated manufacturing with some policies that are today Republican proposals:  Tax deferrals, contractual incentives, and capital and guarantees to convert their factors to defense manufacturing.

Top economists show us that the government cannot expand the economy through deficit spending because borrowing disrupts and displaces other economic activities, including Milton Freedman, E. Cary, John Taylor of Stanford, Gary Becker and Eugene Fama of the University of Chicago and Greg Mankiw and Robert Barro of Harvard. In the end, the government simply moves economic activity around (benefitting campaign donors) without any real improvement. As economist Hal Varian of the University of California at Berkeley points out, private investment  in the economy builds a foundation for long-term, sustainable growth and prosperity, whereas government spending does not.

When political cronies benefit, honest business building is demoralized and discouraged.  Economic growth is harmed by liberal meddling and government disruption of the private sector.

This author was reminded (scolded, really) that even John Maynard Keynes himself would never approve of the claptrap thrown around in his name.   Keynes argued that governments should run deficits in bad times but should also pay off those debts promptly in good times and run up surpluses to save for the future.  But since Keynes is not here anymore to defend his reputation, Keynes’ theories have become grossly perverted in the halls of Congress, the White House, and academia.]\

Now, the tea party cannot save the country without slaying the Keynesian dragon once and for all.  The tea party is fighting against out-of-control government spending as its most important priority.  Ordinary Americans were driven out of their living rooms and into the streets to form the tea party by the fiscal madness in Washington.  But the tea party cannot bring a stop to deficit spending without confronting the demon at its core.

Western Civilization at Risk

athensruinsIn 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior: “A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a

“The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the
beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200
years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage.”
The Obituary follows:

Born 1776, Died 2016
It doesn’t hurt to read this several times.
Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law in
St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning
the last Presidential election:

Number of States won by: Obama: 19 Romney: 29
Square miles of land won by: Obama: 580,000 Romney: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by: Obama: 127 million Romney: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Obama: 13.2 Romney: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: “In aggregate, the map of the territory
Romney won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens
of the country.

Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low
income tenements and living off various forms of government

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the
“complacency and apathy” phase of Professor Tyler’s definition of
democracy, with some forty percent of the nation’s population
already having reached the “governmental dependency” phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million
criminal invaders called illegals – and they vote – then we can say
goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

History Timeline and Freedom of Religion

90 B.C.

Mormon abridges platesOnce, many centuries ago in ancient America, there was a man named Nehor. He came among the people of a city named Zarahemla, teaching his system of beliefs. As Zarahemla was a free society, there was no law against Nehor’s teaching anything he believed. But then Nehor met an elderly man named Gideon, a Christian disciple. Gideon openly expressed his disagreement with Nehor. Deeply offended by Gideon’s viewpoint, Nehor brandished his sword and beat upon his opponent until the old man died from the attack.

Nehor was tried and found guilty, not only of murder, but also of what was known as “enforced priestcraft.” This meant that he had tried to enforce his belief system with his sword. When Nehor was executed according to the law of the land, Alma, a Christian prophet and also chief judge of the Zarahemla government, made a prophetic statement that has been fulfilled in America in our day. He said that “were enforced belief systems to be imposed among this people it would prove their entire destruction.”

Nehor died, but his followers kept alive the order of Nehor (enforced belief systems). Since then, the order of Nehor has emerged with various names—socialism, communism, fascism, terrorism, etc. Any political system that forces its ideas on a people is modeled after the order of Nehor.

Keep this little story in mind now while we review the following intelligence reports from the field.  Let’s look at developments in the four corners of our society: science, academia, journalism, and government. Then you will see how this ancient prophecy by our Christian forbearers has been fulfilled in modern American society.

Intelligence Reports from the Field

Field of Science, 1925

Growing popularity of Darwin’s theory of evolution sparked a stormy debate between science and religion. After the Scopes trial, the Biblical teaching of creation was increasingly disparaged.

Field of Academia, about 1919

Progressive education, a combination of secular philosophies including elements of socialism, began to be implemented in public schools. Secularism swept through Columbia University, the main college that teaches teachers. These teachers taught students who became scientists, journalists, lawyers, government officials, and. . . other teachers in all levels of academia. By the 1950’s, textbooks were praising Karl Marx as a kind, peace-loving man. Eleventh grade history teachers were telling students it was time to “knock the Founding Fathers off their pedestals.”[1]

Teachers graduated from colleges of education bringing their heavy secular influence to other areas of academia. Author and Christian Apologist Frank Turek is concerned that “hostility against Christianity on many university campuses and classrooms can undermine the faith of those unequipped to defend their beliefs.[2]

Field of Journalism, 1915

March, 1915. J.P.Morgan Interests bought 25 of the most influential newspapers in the United States for the purpose of “controlling the general policy of the daily press throughout the country.”[3]

Field of Government, 1963

ScripturePoetryIn 1963 the United States Supreme Court banned prayer and Bible-reading from public schools. Trying to avoid the “establishment of religion,” the Supreme Court actually “prohibited the free exercise thereof,”[4] and inadvertently established atheism as the state religion. Countless teachers and students have been punished for praying or reading the Bible in public schools.

When God was removed from the schools, so was accountability. Over time, as Constitutional principles have been replaced by philosophies of progressivism, the slope toward the abyss of moral relativism has slickened, and slipping down it has accelerated. The destructive moral decline in our society can be traced back to the enforcement[5]of atheism, after the ancient order of the Nehors. We know. We were there, and we saw it with our own eyes! And what are the consequences of this enforced system of beliefs?

  • The theory of evolution has been taught as fact almost exclusively in the schools. Equal time to examine creation or intelligent design has been denied.
  • History is no longer taught in the schools. Christopher Columbus, George Washington, and Abraham Lincoln are no longer honored by national holidays in many schools.
  • Fornication and abortion are taught as acceptable behavior. Nevertheless, sexually active girls are three times more likely to take their own lives than those who are abstinent. Boys are eight times more likely. Two thirds of teens who have committed moral transgression wish they could go back to innocence again and desperately wish they had waited.[6]
  • Widespread abortion is considered by many government leaders to be a national cost-saver.[7]

The infamous decree of 1963 has filled our schools with the pottage of atheism. Two or three generations of youth have been taught to turn their backs on Judeo-Christian values.  Now, in the 21st century, a new state religion has moved into the spiritual void created by that judgment fifty years ago. Masquerading as a religion, it is really a political system, brutally hostile to the Judeo-Christian culture, seeking to replace the United States Constitution with tyranny.  The new order of Nehor is terrorism. As Isaac and Rebekah must have sorrowed together over Esau’s soul-damaging choices, many of us over the years have lamented the negative effects of evil influences forced upon our loved ones. But. . . No more!

Parents and Grandparents to the rescue![8]  It’s time to act, and reclaim the Judeo-Christian culture for the rising generation. In today’s society of shifting values, as in the Biblical type-scene, the birthright blessings are in danger of falling into immoral hands.  Are not we, rather than the schools, ultimately accountable for what our children are taught? Does not character education begin with us? But it certainly can’t end with us, can it? Once our own children have internalized righteous principles of self-government, will they be prepared to teach their children, and so on, to the third and fourth generation, and beyond? Only when our grandchildren answer this question with a confident “Yes!” can we know we have succeeded in our stewardship as parents.

[5] The U. S. Supreme Court issued two bans on prayer in public schools. The first ban came in 1962 and the second was issued in 1963. The bans were the result of a court case sponsored in part by Madalyn Murray O’Hair. She was but one of the litigants in the lawsuit, but her name became synonymous with the case and the promotion of atheism. The ban not only outlawed prayer in public schools but it also banned Bible reading in public schools. Madalyn Murray O’Hair was the founder of American Atheists, Inc. which not only sought to ban prayer in public schools but also actively promoted atheism and the continued separation of church and school. Madalyn Murray O’Hair is survived by her son William J. Murray, the president of the Religious Freedom Coalition in Washington D.C. Unlike his mother who fought to ban prayer in public schools, William J. Murray is a strong Christian who fights for the rights of Christians around the world.
