It was no chance occurrence that Alma was present that day in the king’s court. He witnessed the pivotal moment when men clashed, soul-to-soul, in the relentless struggle between good and evil. The courage of one lonely prophet was not wasted, it emblazoned the truth on the heart of another.
“Defining Moments” is a regular feature. It’s kind of a fancy name for a glossary. When I was growing up, we had a huge dictionary on a tall, narrow, rolling table. Whenever we asked the meaning of a word, we were told to “look it up.” We still do that. You’d be surprised at some of the interesting things you find in the dictionary, especially the 1828 American Dictionary. Now, with all the twists and spins that politicians and the media do to common words, it’s valuable to go back to the original meaning. It can make for interesting conversation at dinner.
Also, many epic heroes have had moments in time that changed their lives. If you have not yet had any Defining Moments in your life, you will. One choice or decision at any moment on any given day, based either on either true or false information, strength or weakness, can change your life for good or ill. The greater your understanding of true principles, the better your choices will be. Below are definitions and stories that look beneath the surface for deeper meaning. Updates will be added regularly.
